This full-time, benefits eligible position that works as a community navigator to support Denver police and co-responder units. In this role, you will provide brief case management to adults with mental illnesses, with a focus on short-term solutions, bridge services, coordinate service connection in support of supporting individuals that are accessing 911 services. The purpose of the Support Team Assisted Response (STAR) Program initial response van is to respond to low-risk behavioral health calls with an EMT/Paramedic and Behavioral Health Clinician to de-escalate and connect residents in distress with appropriate services, including wraparound services through the STAR community coalition following encounters with a STAR van. STAR vans provide a broad range of no-cost services such as providing information and referrals, crisis intervention, counseling, transportation, and social service needs. This role responds to Mental Health related 911 calls.
The objectives of the STAR Program are to:
- Increase connection to behavioral health services and community resources for those reached by STAR.
- Provide more appropriate response and reduce emergency calls to police, fire department, and EMS.
- Improve information sharing across systems and service providers involved in administering STAR.
- Increase partnerships with community organizations through collaboration via STAR Community Partner Network.
STAR Van Clinicians will:
- Provide de-escalation, connection, and system navigation for individuals, in the city and county of Denver, through triaged calls from the Public Safety non-emergency line or 911 Emergency Services.

Assist in supporting the self identified needs of individuals served. This includes but is not limited to:
- Access to low barrier treatment options.
- Connection (or reconnection) to service providers or safe locations identified by the individual.
- Transport to identified supports as needed.
- Referral and connection to additional resources that can be utilized for support and system navigation post crisis provided through STAR community coalitions.
Pay Range & Benefits:
Masters: $28.89/hr - $60,091.00/yr
Licensed (LCSW/LMFT/LP/LAC) $34.75/hr - $35.25/hr $72,280.00/yr - $73,320.00/yr
Language Differential - $1 - $2.50/hr

Responsibilities and Duties:
- Develop crisis related safety plans. Be able to assess, or as for support in supporting, the need for emergency mental health holds.
- Provide psychological consultation to STAR Van partner and/or other first responder as needed while responding to mental health related calls.
- Coordinate client's use of other WellPower programs and outside community resources.
- Coordinate medication/medicinal needs of clients with psychiatrists, nurses, and other medical sources as part of crisis resolution.
- Maintain accurate and timely clinical records consistent with WellPower standards.
- Participate in team/department meetings, in-services, and supervisory sessions as required.
- Assesses, monitors, and follows up with consumer’s ability to meet basic needs in moving toward recovery.
- Knowledge and understanding of trauma-informed care principles/practices.
- Maintain a trauma informed environment of wellbeing.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
- May require occasional evening, or weekend hours depending on program and consumer needs.
Requirements and Qualifications:
- Master’s Degree in psychology, social work, or other related human services degree.
- Current license as a LCSW/LPC/LMFT in the State of Colorado, or on licensure track.
- Experience in mental health or human services preferred.
- Must have a valid Colorado Driver’s license and a recent clean driving record.
- Ability to obtain and carry Business Use coverage on your auto policy (additional cost is reimbursed).
