Propellerhead is hiring a

Support Engineer

Auckland, New Zealand
Full-Time
Propellerhead is a leading software services company that designs, delivers, and maintains large-scale, custom-built digital platforms across a range of technologies. We place emphasis on producing technology which is meaningful, has value, and can make a difference in the world. We foster long lasting and trusting relationships with all our clients, and we have worked with a diverse range of commercial, non-profit, and government organisations over our 20 years in the market.

How We Build Software:

We build software by structuring solutions in a product-centric manner and focusing on continuously delivering improvements from a backlog of features. These features are taken from real stakeholder needs linked to clear objectives. As a result, our digital platforms are a mixture of custom components and external services which produce a powerful and engaging experience when combined.

Propellerhead operates a hybrid working model (work from our office and/or from your own home). We welcome applications from Developers located throughout New Zealand, and from Developers located internationally who are interested in moving to New Zealand. (Please note: if working remotely, you will be required to work across NZ work-day hours.)

The Role:

This is a rare opportunity for a Software Engineer with 3 - 5 years experience to join Propellerhead. If you possess some experience in a similar software support position and/or a position requiring technical software knowledge and client engagement, this role could be suitable for you.

As a Propellerhead Support Engineer, you will work with our System Reliability Engineer, Analysts and Senior Developers to provide business hours support to our clients. You will work on support issues arising in real time (during business hours) while also participating in DevOps tasks to implement changes and investigate problems.

Role Responsibilities Include:

  • Triaging support issues in real-time, while verifying the symptoms, impact and responsibility for further investigation
  • Investigating the root cause of incidents and resolving them
  • Monitoring incident progress, and communicating status updates to clients
  • Implementing proactive changes and contributing to continuous improvement
  • Participating in technical reviews and presenting your ideas to the team
  • Completing incident reports, including recommendations for ongoing incident mitigation
  • Implementing solutions/resolutions in partnership with core development teams
  • Documenting system architecture and configuration/deployment processes

Experience Required:

  • Technical education, such as a Software Engineering or Computer Science degree
  • 3 - 5 years experience in a similar Support Engineer position or a position requiring technical knowledge and client engagement
  • Technical experience/familiarity with Azure and Linux
  • Fantastic written and verbal English communication skills
  • A natural affinity for problem solving
  • Confidence to interact and work with a diverse range of people, including clients
  • A strong desire to learn and upskill
  • You must be Auckland based for this role. We offer a hybrid working model (working from home and working on-site), however office attendance is required at least one day per week for our teams in-office day.

Benefits:

- Contribute to interesting, diverse, and commercially minded work for well-respected clients.
- Join a Developer-led organisation full of world-class colleagues.
- Join a culture of learning and collaboration.
- Fortnightly Developer knowledge sharing session, with lunch.
- Work within our beautifully designed Auckland office and/or from the comfort of your home (hybrid working model).
- Propellerhead is an equal opportunity workplace which is free from discrimination.

Cover Letter:
Please note - only applications with a cover letter will be reviewed. Please ensure you specify your location, and whether you wish to work in Auckland or work remotely. It's very important to us that you submit a cover letter with your application - it's your chance to tell us more about who you are and what you value.

More:
Candidates that progress may be asked to agree to a police background check, credit history check, other assessments and provide evidence of qualifications.
