ABOUT THE ROLE

The Supplier Quality Engineer will be working with the Peloton Quality and broader Operations teams to drive improvements and support in the management of quality processes and quality management systems at our manufacturing partners’ facilities. 

You will work with & stationed at our contract manufacturer to drive APQP & process control improvements ensuring that only qualified parts and processes are used to build our products. The responsibilities of the Supplier Quality Engineer include piloting APQP activities, securing supplies and parts for the assembly line, reviewing engineering and manufacturing specifications, monitoring materials for any defects, new product development and resolving quality issues.

You’ll act as the first line of defense “onsite” to improve our product and processes, by supporting overseas teams on a regular basis. You are an individual who is independent, highly motivated, eager to learn, honest, disciplined, punctual, organized, hyper-flexible and enjoys working in a collaborative team environment to improve total product quality. 

YOUR DAILY IMPACT AT PELOTON

  • Deploy Advanced Product Quality Planning (APQP) activities to determine the appropriate use of process controls with suppliers during pilot and mass production. 
  • Work with suppliers to establish a structured approach for consistency and adherence to quality procedures and requirements.
  • Perform regular process and product audits at the suppliers to ensure product quality and SOP conformance, identify areas of improvement and drive them to completion to ensure that consistent high-quality product is delivered.
  • Work closely with the US team and suppliers to drive root cause identification activities to improve product quality through data analysis, corrective action, and preventive measures.
  • Monitor supplier production and evaluate metrics such as incoming quality data and assembly line first-pass yield data to identify improvement opportunities and drive them to completion.
  • Support the activities associated with PSA-Supplier qualification and performance improvements. 
  • Support the activities associated with new or changed part qualifications and the associated updating of the quality control requirements.
  • Interface with suppliers to resolve manufacturing, quality and reliability issues utilizing DOE and statistical approaches driving a “zero defect” mentality.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Possess “can-do” attitude, eager to learn.
  • BS in Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, or other technical discipline.
  • Minimum of 4+ years of experience in mechanical assembly industries.
  • Experience in metrology and part inspection, ability to ensure that parts are being inspected following best practices.
  • Experience in Mechanical Hardware commodities like plastic injection molds, casting, stamping, and coatings. 
  • Strong communication skills in English.
  • Lean/Six Sigma training, Green or Black Belt a plus.
  • Experience in NPI project management is preferred.
  • Strong understanding and experience in GD&T, quality management standards/tools, e.g. ISO 9001, ISO/IEC 17025, Core Tools, 8D, AQL, APQP, Data Analytics, Process Capability...
