Team Lead, Project Management
This role is designed as an entry into a leadership position. The Project Management Team Lead will work closely with and under the direction of the Project Management Manager. This “player-coach” role is expected to carry 50% client facing activities and 50% operational duties which may include, but are not limited to:
Responsibilities
- Launches projects by conducting project planning meetings with clients and other staff as required
- Conducts internal project transitions
- Ensures resources are scheduled and monitors progress to ensure compliance with the project plan, immediately notifying affected parties of any schedule changes
- Uses departmental sites, calendars, and systems to publish a summary of key dates and issues to all Tyler employees involved in the project, such as development, implementation, support, and other project managers
- Obtains regular feedback from clients regarding project status and quality of service and takes immediate corrective action as required
- Anticipates, identifies, and resolves roadblocks, such as hardware, software, or networking incompatibilities and unresponsive third-party vendors or clients
- Communicates completion of milestones to clients and secures formal acceptance from them
- Upon project completion, conducts meetings with clients to ensure a smooth transition of services from implementation to support
- Works with the sales team as the contract is signed, becoming familiar with contract requirements, program modifications, and other site-specific background information
- Manages and assumes accountabilities for all aspects of projects related to delivery of client software and services, with the focus being on less complex projects
- Holds project team accountable with some assistance/coaching
- Communicates with the implementation staff and management regularly, ensuring timely delivery of schedules and revenue projections; relaying personnel, client, contract, and departmental issues; seeks assistance as needed with meeting revenue goals
- Maintains the project teams’ calendar commitments by keeping all project event information current
- Identifies when issues need to be escalated and applies coaching regarding resolutions
- Expected to require assistance when providing Executive-level project updates
- Ability to research basic invoice questions with some guidance
- Acts on direction provided for process improvement initiatives

Leadership Activities
- Understands and drives team toward revenue commitments
- May conduct project assignments

Supervises project managers, conducting the following:
- Regular one-on-one meetings with direct reports
- Annual performance evaluations
- Merit/compensation conversations
- HR oversite (leave, performance issues, etc.)
- Ensures PSA compliance
- Provides mentorship and guidance; assists direct reports in setting and obtaining career growth goals

Provides sales assistance as needed; examples include:
- Works with Sales to determine scope of work
- Participates in prospect calls or demos
- Provides project management input on RFP responses
- Provides input into and/or develops new employee training program(s); leads training sessions as needed
- Assists in new product rollout processes, working directly with the Director of Training and the PMO to complete template updates and project management training as required
- Develops and leads operational process improvements, such as general project template updates, report/dashboard creation, PSA testing, etc.
- Performs other duties as assigned
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree, or comparable work experience
- Typically, a minimum of 3 years of project management (or equivalent/like) experience
- Desire to learn the skills associated with a PMP
- Software lifecycle and enterprise software knowledge preferred
- Excellent planning and organizational skills, and ability to follow through until processes are completed
- Excellent customer service skills
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills to articulate technical and non-technical information to various audiences, including management
- Proficiency in using computers and Microsoft Office Suite
- Ability to problem-solve and present solutions with some guidance
- Seeks appropriate guidance to prioritize and complete multiple tasks in a fast-paced, technical environment
- Demonstrates ability to maintain a positive, professional attitude and is open to feedback to further growth
- Seeks appropriate guidance for negotiation, persuasion, and conflict resolution skills
