Supervisor, Quality Center Consultant (Part- time)

The Quality Center Consultant is part of the Global Food Safety and Quality Systems team (GFSQS), reporting to the Geographical Quality Center Lead. You will lead product evaluations sessions and maintains strong working relationships with Product Category Leads, suppliers and other key stakeholders.

Supporting the McDonald’s system with leadership in sensory standards and tools, operating systems and equipment knowledge to achieve continuous improvement in delivering consistent quality, safe and wholesome food to our customers.

This role is responsible for project management and for key quality initiatives, providing timely, accurate and meaningful information about product standards, our operating systems including equipment and operational procedures, to drive sound business decisions.

Focus Areas & Responsiblities:

Functional

  •  
  • Responsible for the operational part of the QC
  • Calendaring/scheduling
  • Ensuring that all lab processes and equipment are effective, efficient and continuously improving.
  • Supports preparation of samples and sessions

Sensory Program Management:

  • Supports product evaluation session with suppliers, trained panels, and assures accurate and timely reporting of evaluation results.
  • Participates in the McDonald’s Target Program
  • Implements sensory evaluation procedures and tools – sensory scoresheets, SOP and glossaries.

Core Menu –Projects and Support:

  • Drives alignment, standardization and improvement in execution and maintenance of Core Menu Standards
  • Support Core Product Approvals (including equipment tests for core products) and other product related projects as well as relevant processes.
  • Support non-routine product evaluations to ensure Core Product Quality is governed well as regional needs are fulfilled

Trainings and Key Events:

  • Helps develop, conduct sensory training/certification sessions – Gold Standards, Calibration Sessions, Taste of Quality, Product specific Trainings
  • Helps co-hosting, set up and coordination of key activities and events such as team meetings, trainings and market calibration visits

Equipment/Ops Platforms/Packaging– Innovation and Improvement:

  • Supports any new equipment development
  • Enhancements to existing equipment, new operational procedures and/or packaging initiatives impacting Core Menu Items  
  • Ensure Gold Standard Quality (not sacrificing taste) nor food safety is compromised.

People/Relationship Management:

  • Develops relationships with suppliers and internal McDonald’s staff (Quality Systems, Menu, Equipment, RSG) by establishing and building open lines of communications.
  • Provides ongoing coaching and training within McDonald’s on company values and behaviours, quality and food safety expectations.
  • Embraces McDonald’s Supply Chain culture
  • To be an active team member with the Global Sensory Team (GST) to ensure alignment and calibration of Global gold Standards and equipment initiatives.

Key Customers:

Key customers include McDonald's Global Supply Chain– Category Leads and Quality Centers, Global Menu Strategy and Global Operations, Global Equipment and Market SC/QA, Operations and Equipment

  • Experience working in the food industry
  • Bachelor of Science in Food Science or related science field. 
  • Experience in sensory evaluation and application in food is a plus as well as knowledge of the McDonald’s system
  • Good communication and presentation skills
  • Project Management
