The Quality/Truck Receiving Supervisor is responsible for managing the truck receiving leads by improving the efficiency and effectiveness of safety, production, and quality by monitoring all operations in the truck receiving operations. Expectations include maintaining shift schedules, training, and auditing leads on SWPs, SOPs, PMs related to the TR Ops. Maintaining the quality metrics and electronic quality log. Performing specific tests to either investigate the source of quality problems or study potential quality improvements impacting local, regional, and corporate operations. They will accomplish this by identifying opportunities to coordinate, standardize, and centralize processes and tasks critical to the implementation and execution of maintain client specifications. They will work with MA plants to reduce plant related quality issues. This position will be estimated at 80% quality and 20% receiving supervision).
Responsibilities
- Work with Ops Supervisor to effectively maintain quality and TR expectations.
- Manage the Truck Receiving leads.
- Ensures testing equipment, procedures and sampling are up-to-date, in good condition and followed
- Site responsible for facilitating/escalating/enforcing quality assurance and quality control is meeting customer specifications, especially fines, temp and tramp material
- SPA for 3rd party surveyor measurement sampling and measurement integrity
- Manage TR teams (ensure shifts are properly aligned and capable of Enviva standards)
- Troubleshoot basic control systems and be familiar with basic machinery functions.
- Perform routine housekeeping audits.
- Communicate to Operations team, escalating issues as necessary.
- Train, certify and supervise TR operators; manage the sampling and testing of finished goods delivered; maintain test equipment, QA/QC documentation, records, and sample archives.
- Develop and maintain quality control tools and instruction to guide management of product and ensure effective process troubleshooting, audit and maintain test procedures; ensure that all tests are timely and accurate.
- Oversee the daily collection and testing of samples.
- Track and interpret finished goods quality metrics against internal and customer specifications; perform root cause analysis and correction of quality issues and escalate issues immediately.
- Train and audit employees on quality procedures
- Manage the proper operation and maintenance of equipment key to the preservation of product quality and safety at the plant.
- SPA for tramp prevention. No tramp will load on boats, audit pre/post boat, making sure equipment is ready (TR magnets are checked, reporting root cause analysis to eliminate tramp source).
- Special Projects as necessary to improve and optimize operations and investigate source of quality problems.
- Guide employees related to specification attainment, SOP’s, and tramp materials.
- Attend and present at pre-shift meetings and lead employees through cause maps.
- Other related duties as required and serve as back up resource as needed.
Act as a liaison between port and plant to drive down quality issues related to port ops.
Travel Requirements
- This position may require travel from time-to-time, but not on a regular basis for training or other work-related assignments
Working Conditions
- Must be able to work in environments that reach temperatures above 100 degrees and below 32 degrees.
- Able to work in a hot, humid, cold and noisy industrial environment.
- Able to maintain strict adherence to safety rules and regulations, to include wearing safety equipment.
- Majority of time spent in lab setting, with time in field to collect samples and troubleshoot results.
Physical Requirements
- Climb ladders and work off elevated surfaces on an occasional basis up to 100 ft
- Must be able to push, pull and lift items up to 50 lbs.
- Able to frequently walk or stand in addition to the capability to bend, squat, climb stairs and lift items above shoulders on an occasional basis.
- Must use required/provided PPE (i.e. safety glasses, hard hat, steel toe boots & hearing protection).
