SUPERVISOR, ENVIRONMENTAL HEALTH & SAFETY (EHS)
The role of the EHS Supervisor is to lead the EHS technicians in all work efforts related to implementation of SpaceX’s environmental programs, as assigned by the EHS Manager. As part of this leadership role, it is expected that the EHS Supervisor performs the same work tasks assigned to EHS technicians.
As the EHS Supervisor, you must take on the leadership and supervisory responsibilities to ensure the overall compliance, success, and well-being of the EHS technicians and EHS program. The EHS Supervisor leads by example and sets the bar for all waste, environmental, and safety-related tasks.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Manage the day-to-day and long-term activities/priorities of the EHS technician team
- Ensure a collaborative relationship with the environmental technicians and other EHS/SpaceX teams
- Coordinate employee schedules, work assignments, timekeeping requirements
- Provide instructional guidance with regards to job assignments, correct procedures, and applicable techniques to perform specific skills; ensure accuracy and completion
- Coordinate with site leadership to ensure appropriate EHS team involvement in department development/modification plans and procedure development
- Ensure technicians are completing all required tasks thoroughly and on time
- Document all performance and compliance issues with technicians
- Implement and maintain site-specific EHS team policies
- Ensure that resources are allocated appropriately
- Ensure technicians are completing required EHS inspections via daily communication and oversight
- Ensure hazardous waste central accumulation areas (CAAs) are stocked with consumables and tools needed to facilitate timely workflow
- Maintain hazardous waste inventories, manifests, and spend forecasts.
- Develop and maintain relationships with environmental vendors
- Schedule and facilitate waste disposal, cleanup services, and other 3rd party services
- Ensure hazards encountered by the technician team are being appropriately addressed and Job Hazard Analysis (JHA) and Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) assessments are created.
- Perform tasks and ensure compliance related all applicable regulations established by the EPA, CERCLA, RCRA, DOT, TRRC, RWQCB, NEPA and other applicable regulatory agencies
- Ensure that environmental tasks, such as Storm Water and Spill Prevention Countermeasures and Control Plan inspections, are allocated and completed as directed by the EHS Manager
BASIC QUALIFICATIONS:
- High school diploma or equivalency certificate
- 4+ years of experience implementing and overseeing environmental, health, and safety disciplines
PREFERRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE:
- Experience implementing/developing EHS plans and policies
- Experience using Windows operating systems and Microsoft Office (Excel, PowerPoint, Word, Outlook)
- Experience with emergency response crews in incidents involving hazardous and non-hazardous material releases to air, soil, and water
- Demonstrated success with hands-on work and attention to detail in either academic or career pursuits
- Ability to multi-task, to manage shifting priorities, and to follow through on projects with minimal supervision
- Ability to work in a construction/industrial environment
- Ability to communicate well with technicians and engineers
- Strong organizational and communication skills
ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS:
- This is not a remote or hybrid position and will require relocation if not already local to the Hawthorne, CA area
- Position occasionally requires the ability to work extended hours and weekends when needed
- Ability to lift up to 30 lbs unassisted
COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS:
Pay range:
Environmental Supervisor: $105,000.00 - $135,000.00/per year
Your actual level and base salary will be determined on a case-by-case basis and may vary based on the following considerations: job-related knowledge and skills, education, and experience.
