Closing Date: March 23, 2025 Number of opening: 1 Job Summary Galore Creek Mining Corporation is seeking a Mine Engineering Student to support the development of Galore Creek’s ongoing pre-feasibility-level study. Reporting to the Manager of Mine Planning, the mine engineering summer student will provide pre-feasibility-level technical support in the following areas: activity-based mine scheduling, operational cost modeling, report writing, and general information presentation. This position will be office-based at the Galore Creek Vancouver office. The expected start date for this role is in early May 2025, and the end date will be approximately August 31, 2025. Located in the territory of the Tahltan Nation in northwestern British Columbia, Galore Creek is one of the world’s largest undeveloped copper-gold-silver deposits. Galore Creek Mining Corporation (GCMC), a partnership between Newmont Corporation (Newmont) and Teck Resources Limited (Teck), is committed to advancing the asset towards a development decision with meaningful input from the Tahltan Nation and BC regulators.   • Be a courageous safety leader, leading by example and fostering a proactive safety and sustainability culture based on the common values of health, safety, environment, and social responsibility shared by Teck and Newmont (the Partners).
  • Coordinate pre-feasibility deliverables with other Technical Services groups (Geology, Geotechnical, Processing, Water Resource).
  • Mine planning responsibilities will focus on:
  • Support in the management of mine planning workbooks
  • Complete mining-related technical study reviews and present recommendations
  • Consolidate technical information for entry into the pre-feasibility report.
  • Qualifications
  • Currently enrolled in a Mine Engineering degree program from an accredited post-secondary institution.
  • Prior work experience in mine planning and/or mine financial modeling.
  • Strong data management skills and proficiency with the Microsoft Office suite.
  • Strong organizational skills and the ability to complete work in a timely manner.
  • Strong communication skills, both verbal and written; the ability to write clear and concise reports and present technical information to a variety of audiences
  • Familiarity with specialized mining software (Deswik, Maptek Vulcan) is an asset.
  • Pay Range (Annual Salary): 56,900 – 72,000
