The FX & Markets vertical within Agoda's Treasury Team, at its core, is responsible for ensuring Agoda's foreign currency exposures are hedged.
Agoda has taken many great strides in recent years, expanding our reach around the globe as well as our list of travel products. A critical driver to this success has been the Agoda Finance team. We keep a steady hand on maintaining day-to-day financial operations while also keeping an eye out for future opportunities. Not only do we have the unique role of balancing risk management with continued innovation and growth, we also serve as a means of empowerment for both our team members and those within the company. Having experimentation and data analysis deeply ingrained in our culture, we provide the strategic insights Agoda’s business leaders need to push into new territories in sustainable and scalable ways. The opportunity:
The FX & Markets vertical within Agoda’s Treasury Team is responsible for ensuring Agoda’s foreign currency exposures are hedged and that its foreign currency bank accounts are funded to ensure day-to-day operations. The ideal candidate will have an interest in learning how to trade financial products, an interest in Asian economies, and technical savvy—particularly expertise in Excel formulas.
During this internship, you will get a broad overview of the Treasury and Finance function at Agoda, but your primary focus over the 10 weeks will be learning how to be an FX trader for a travel technology leader. In this role, you will learn what business activities generate foreign currency exposure for Agoda. You will become familiar with the full life cycle of an FX trade, including execution, settlement, and matching. You will also gain knowledge of Agoda’s bank account and counterparty bank account structure, as well as learn the flow of cash from and to Agoda. Additionally, you will learn about e-wallets, VCC, and the exciting and often confusing “lingo” of the FX market.
