Emerson Collective Internship Program
Emerson Collective’s summer internship program places college-aged students in paid internship opportunities across Emerson Collective and our affiliate partners XQ InstituteE Pluribus Unum, and Chicago CRED.

Candidates can apply to a maximum of three positions. Any additional applications will not be considered.

The Opportunity
The People team powers the employee lifecycle at Emerson Collective. The People team intern will learn the inner workings of our stellar human resources and recruiting operations. Candidates should be interested in HR or talent matters, such as onboarding, recruitment, benefits, HR tech systems, performance feedback, learning and development programs, employee relations, and legal compliance. The intern will contribute to several projects simultaneously, including HR program research, operations, data and analytics, and new hire onboarding. Successful candidates should exhibit strong communication skills,  attention to detail, sound judgment, the ability to manage multiple tasks, a proactive attitude, and a commitment to confidentiality and discretion.

Role and Responsibilities

  • Review and propose improvements to People Operations' support of the summer internship program, including, but not limited to, the application process, onboarding, programming, and communications. 
  • Oversee the intern cohort’s Anti-Harassment and Emergency Preparedness Training completion. 
  • Project support of HR systems optimization and workflow automation project, particularly in the area of database auditing and clean-up. 
  • Coordinate with the People Operations team to document workflows and standard operating procedures as assigned.
  • Audit employee directory,  organizational chart, job description database, and other employee data as assigned.
  • Research and assess emerging HR technology solutions as assigned.
  • Research employee resources, initiatives, and opportunities for reducing carbon footprint.

Qualifications, Skills, and Requirements

  • Rising undergraduate juniors or seniors, preferably pursuing a degree in HR, business, psychology, technology, or organizational behavior.
  • A strong interest in HR, organizational development, or workplace culture best practices.
  • Ability to analyze, filter, and report on large data sets in Google Sheets or Excel.
  • Exceptional attention to detail and sound judgment.
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and a proactive attitude.
  • Commitment to confidentiality and discretion.
  • A proven background in a dynamic and evolving work environment.
  • Strong intuition and incredibly perceptive.
  • Operate with care, kindness, and a spirit of generosity.
  • Excited by working in an environment where any idea is possible and is driven to help execute to make those ideas happen.

Location 
Emerson Collective is a Bay Area-based organization with offices in Palo Alto, East Palo Alto, San Francisco, Oakland, Los Angeles, Chicago, New York, and Washington, D.C. This position is located in Palo Alto, CA, and is onsite 40 hours/week between June 9th and August 1st, 2025. 

Key Dates
November 18 - January 10: Internship applications accepted, and interviews commence on a rolling basis. Please note that not all applicants will be selected for interviews.
January 10 - March 7: Interviews continue, and offers are extended.
June 9: Internship program begins.
August 1: Internship program concludes.

Compensation
All EC Interns are paid $25/hour and can expect to work 40 hours per week from June 9th to August 1st (eight weeks). Interns may also receive travel and housing allowances as needed.

This position requires being up to date on COVID vaccination consistent with current CDC guidelines, subject to documented religious and/or medical exemptions.
