Emerson Collective Internship Program

The Opportunity
The Finance team supports all teams at Emerson Collective. The Finance intern will gain exposure to the fundamentals of financial reporting, month-end close, forecasting, budgeting, variance analysis, and cross-functional department collaboration. They will work hands-on with our core tools, including Excel, Cube FP&A, NetSuite, and Google Sheets, to help develop and strengthen our models, reports, and dashboards to discover new financial insights and drive expense optimization decision-making. Additionally, they will contribute to advancing our AI initiatives by supporting the development of internal AI capabilities to accelerate our FP&A workflows.
Candidates should have a proven track record in analytical thinking, data management, and presentation skills. They should be detail-oriented, organized, and proactive, with a growth mindset and a strong desire to learn new technologies. Strong communication abilities are essential, as the intern will be responsible for gathering information and feedback from various stakeholders across the organization's Emerson Collective ecosystem. They will be expected to analyze their research and present their findings.
Role and Responsibilities

Assist in Financial Reporting: Support the finance team in preparing, reviewing, and analyzing financial reports, ensuring accuracy and timely distribution.

Support Forecasting: Work alongside the team to assist in developing and refining department forecasts to ensure alignment with organizational goals and budgets.

Conduct Variance Analysis: Analyze budget vs. actual variances and provide insights to identify trends and areas for potential cost optimization.

Enhance Financial Models and Dashboards: Utilize core FP&A tools to develop and maintain financial models, reports, and dashboards that drive key decision-making.

Collaborate Across Departments: Engage with team members and stakeholders from various departments to gather information, understand financial needs, and deliver data-driven insights.

Contribute to AI Initiatives: Support the finance team’s AI initiatives by assisting with the testing and implementation of AI applications to streamline FP&A processes.
Qualifications, Skills, and Requirements
- Rising undergraduate sophomore, junior, or senior, preferably pursuing a degree related to finance, economics, or business.
- A proven background in a dynamic and evolving work environment.
- Strong intuition and incredibly perceptive.
- Operate with care, kindness, and a spirit of generosity.

Location
Emerson Collective is a Bay Area-based organization with offices in Palo Alto, East Palo Alto, San Francisco, Oakland, Los Angeles, Chicago, New York, and Washington, D.C. This position is located in Palo Alto, CA, and is onsite 40 hours/week between June 9th and August 1st, 2025.
Key Dates
November 18 - January 10: Internship applications accepted, and interviews commence on a rolling basis. Please note that not all applicants will be selected for interviews.
January 10 - March 7: Interviews continue, and offers are extended.
June 9: Internship program begins.
August 1: Internship program concludes.
Compensation
All EC Interns are paid $25/hour and can expect to work 40 hours per week from June 9th to August 1st (eight weeks). Interns may also receive travel and housing allowances as needed.
