Job Description
The successful candidate must have Studio Design Engineering experience along with familiarity with the automotive development process, including product development, manufacturing, and vehicle attribute requirements.
Experience and Skills Required:
- Feasibility support for Class A Design Theme development during Design maturation and production surface development, based on engineering and manufacturing inputs.
- Draw upon industry experience and benchmarking as well as communicating with regional and global engineering and attribute counterparts.
- Develop and maintain 2D / 3D CAD based zone layouts (scaffold files) for studio Design feasibility with integration of functional feasibility and Design requirements in support of the design and design feasibility progression.
- Develop design feasibility surface proposals throughout surface development to support the Design theme.
- Review and Filter technical input as provided by engineering to ensure final issued surfaces are aligned to the technical input.
- Lead Design studio engineering feasibility meetings to identify creative solutions in support of studio surface development.
- Manage data into / out of the studio as required (E.g. data to clay and fabrication groups within Design, and engineering and functional areas outside of Design).
- Strong understanding of engineering and manufacturing feasibility requirements (E.g. sheet metal forming, plastic mouldings) and the ability to incorporate these while preserving design intent.
- A minimum of 5 years of experience within the automotive Design Studio Engineering or similar areas.
- Advanced proficiency in CATIA V5 CAD modelling software and Teamcenter PLM.
- A strong commitment to delivering high quality work and meeting project deadlines.
- Interior and Exterior Studio Design Engineering experience.
