What is this role like？

We’re looking for a motivated, energetic, and creative problem solver to join our growing team in Boston (Somerville office, Boynton Yards, near Union Square) as a strategy and operations associate on the Operations team, reporting directly to our CEO. 

As a Strategy & Operations Associate, you’ll have cross-functional visibility into the operations, partnerships, special projects in the company, stemming from Finance, to Go-to-Market, to Recruiting, and Sales. Think of yourself as an internal consultant, who parachutes into special projects as an extension of the CEO and helps us scale more efficiently and effectively. You’ll work directly with the CEO and amongst senior leadership, gaining firsthand insight into how strategic decisions are made in a rapidly growing company. You’ll be the glue between Sales, Finance, Product, Engineering, and HR, ensuring that critical initiatives run smoothly and efficiently. You’ll take ownership of critical projects, implement solutions that scale, and play a vital role in shaping Topsort’s growth.

• Operational Excellence: – Assist with day to day operational tasks, own and organize databases, marketing and investment materials, and internal comms and metrics. A lot goes into building and scaling a company, and the challenges evolve over each phase of the company. It’s a fast ride and we want you in the trenches helping to drive projects forward.
• Be a subject matter expert - you must be a ferocious learner, and have the ability to pick up new topics and develop insights quickly. We want you to know everything about the company, the industry, the product - as that’s the foundation of your success here at Topsort and we will spend the first few weeks and months training you to set you up for success.
• Strong Communicator - you should be good at written, verbal communications, and can present ideas in visual formats such as video demos, power points, as well as short memos and FAQs. You can also empathize with internal and external stakeholders at different levels to help craft communications that are consistent with the company messaging but also easy to understand for its specifically intended audience. As part of this interview process, we’d love to see your past work (decks, writing samples, websites).
• Speed of execution and problem solving new initiatives: Drive Cross-Functional Execution – Step in where needed, align teams on key initiatives, and ensure smooth execution of critical projects.
• Organize meetings that matter and push complex projects forward internally and externally. You don’t mind getting your hands dirty by taking meeting notes, sending follow-ups, and doing the grunt work of getting a project started. Action items, metrics, meeting prep and managing processes while identifying and unblocking are your speciality.  

What (we think) you need to be successful - we’re open to not checking all the boxes and be proven wrong by outlier candidates as well! 

• Education – B.A., B.S., or MBA in Finance, Data, Computer Science, or other STEM fields from a top school, proven academic records, entrepreneurial drive, and portfolio of writing samples that demonstrate how you think are critical to our evaluation
• Minimum 2 years of experience working in a fast-paced, analytical or technical environment, such as consulting, investment banking, or scaling startups. 
• Highly motivated and organized, bonus points if you are also entrepreneurial and take the initiative on your own! 
• Ability to thrive under pressure and operate under a fast paced environment with intensity 
• Fearless attitude - ability to dive into the unknown, research and quickly learn about a new topic and become a subject matter expert on it.
