Store Design Manager - Global Travel Retail

In the newly formed Travel Retail Team of Charlotte Tilbury, you will manage key store design projects, producing design packs and managing projects from initial creative concept to implementation, collaborating with key stakeholders of Travel Retail and global teams of Charlotte Tilbury.

Key outcomes include designing exceptional Charlotte Tilbury customer experiences through permanent counters and animation pop-up, within budget, on schedule and meeting operational requirements specific to airports.

Responsibilities:

  • Lead Charlotte Tilbury’s brand codes across all Travel Retail store Design elements, expressing the strength of the brand aesthetically and commercially.
  • Prepare floor plans, elevations, and 3D models to support the expansion of the brand in Travel retail.
  • Beginning to end, full project management, from creating the best layouts, maximizing brand expression in a new store, monitoring creative development, to technical drawings, approvals, tracking and managing spend costs, and opening schedules.
  • Responsible for ensuring all project tenders (over a fixed amount) are started in collaboration with the Procurement and legal teams.
  • Completing the contracting process in line with awarding tenders.
  • Preparing and managing design pack for internal approval and external /retailers sign off process.
  • Review and approve manufacture drawings for design integrity, retailers requirements and safety standards.
  • Ensure design standards and concepts are maintained in all architectural details.
  • Identify and propose solutions to resolve issues that can impact project schedule, cost, or design integrity
  • Attend installation of new stores, monitoring standards and snagging issues
  • Develop expertise in all design concepts for Charlotte Tilbury Beauty including special projects as assigned (pop ups, events etc.)
  • Assist in development and updates to design standard guidelines.
  • Organize, update, and archive all project documentation in line with existing filing system.
  • Communicate effectively via verbal and drawing skills; understand and tailor presentations to the audience.

Requirements

  • Extensive experience in architectural and/or Interior design experience; moderate in Retail design.
  • Bachelor’s and/or Master’s degree in Architecture or Interior Design required from an accredited program
  • Proficient sketching, rendering, graphic presentation skills to communicate ideas.
  • Excellent ability to think spatially and visually, understand flow and proportion of spaces as well as form and function of fixtures, and translate ideas into cohesive design concepts based on own understanding as well as the needs/requests of related business partners.
  • Proven ability to prioritise projects while adhering to strict deadlines.
  • Vectorworks and SketchUp proficiency required. Adobe Creative Suite experience strongly preferred. 3D rendering a plus.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft, particularly Excel.
  • Understanding of basic construction required, extensive knowledge of accessibility and building codes a must.
  • Experience in managing the approval process for retail stores in airport environments is a plus.
  • Decisive problem-solving skills with regards to construction materials and methods a must.
  • Awareness of design trends and materials
  • Excellent project planning and time management skills. Proactivity and adaptability.
  • Ability to balance design, with operational needs and budget objectives resulting in exceptional store environments and customer experience.
  • Self-starter, ability to work independently and with the team.
  • Exceptional eye for detail and great vision on how to use spaces and commercial opportunities.
  • Skilled in the visual, written, and verbal communication of design issues
