This position is based at our site in West Burton, Nottinghamshire.
This role requires employees to complete an online Baseline Personnel Security Standard (BPSS) , including The Disclosure & Barring Service (DBS) checks for criminal convictions.
The Role
UKIFS is leading the STEP (Spherical Tokamak for Energy Production) programme to deliver the world’s first prototype fusion energy plant by 2040, driving a path to the commercial viability of fusion. As part of this bold and ambitious mission, we are seeking a STEP Head of Establishment, West Burton, to lead our teams in West Burton in establishing the future home of STEP.

Your key responsibilities will include:
Leading a team of project, construction and site professionals drawn from across all parts of the STEP programme including industry, providing guidance and support to ensure the team's effectiveness and professional growth.
Acting as a champion for the value to be realised through STEP and wider UKAEA, with local communities and industry across the region.
Build and maintain productive relationships with a wide range of stakeholders, critically local and regional stakeholders including the community, councils, the East Midlands Combined Authority Major and MPs.
Lead and manage the set-up of all West Burton works, ensuring appropriate controls are in place, including permitting and consenting requirements.
UKIFS Client and lead on interface management with STEP Construction Partner, once selected and engaged, and other contractors operating on site for STEP and UKAEA works.
Ensure the planning and execution of all site characterization and early construction works in accordance with the project plan, including transport and construction development, site development and regional dependencies.

What you’ll bring to UKIFS
A degree in an engineering or other STEM discipline; or an equivalent qualification.
Excellent leadership and team management skills, with a track record of successfully leading and developing high-performance teams.
Substantial stakeholder engagement and influencing experience and expertise.
Experience of managing construction/infrastructure projects, including CDM regulations.
Demonstrable experience of delivering construction projects to the highest HSE standards.
A commitment to ethical business practices and a high level of integrity.
