We’re searching for a Staff Technical Program Manager - Lidar. 

In this role, you will

  • Lead program management activities for a lidar product up to volume production including managing design activities, experimental builds and demand, firmware integration, and product validation.
  • Create timelines considering top-down program constraints and bottoms-up technical development feasibility.
  • Take ownership of the communication and tracking with respect to program scope, risk, and cost.
  • Create weekly reports and run programmatic meetings with appropriate level of detail for the respective audience. Proactively schedule meetings or discussions with cross-functional partners to address roadblocks.
  • Support supply management and engineering in supplier selection and developing partnerships with suppliers and contract manufacturers.
  • Proactively remove obstacles to drive momentum and progress, identify gaps in communication or schedule, provide support to teams balancing competing priorities and drive results.
  • Define dependencies and resolve conflicts related to hardware maturity, availability, quantity, and allocation of development, evaluate risks and communicate status to upper management and project stakeholders, and engage and energize the project teams to achieve aggressive goals.
  • Instill an efficient program management mindset by introducing tools or processes that could support: workflows, decision-making, change management, schedule adherence, roles and responsibilities clarification, communication plans, action tracking, budget tracking
  • Partner with multiple cross-functions including, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Optical Engineering, Embedded Software, Digital Signal Processing, Validation & Verification, Reliability, Product Integration, Manufacturing, Hardware Safety Engineering, Program Managers, and Global Supply Management (GSM).

Required Qualifications

  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in program management, project management, and/or engineering leadership within a technical field.
  • Minimum of 5 years breaking down complex projects into manageable milestones, delivering them in a successful and timely manner, and organizing content for broad communication.
  • Strong ability to communicate (verbal and written) succinctly and effectively to various global audiences at all levels.
  • Master collaborator: impeccable attention to detail and organization, ability to influence, motivate, and generate goodwill with teammates while juggling multiple projects at once.
  • Solid technical aptitude and an ability to understand technical designs, challenges, and risks.
  • 2 years of experience taking a technical product to a contract manufacturer and scaling.
  • Experience managing Risk Registers.
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience with a schedule management software equivalent to SmartSheet or Microsoft Project and demonstrating clear dependency management within the system.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience using spreadsheets.
  • Able to be located in Bozeman, MT.
  • Ability to travel, up to 50%, including international travel.

Desirable Qualifications (this section is optional)

  • Experience with managing a product through automotive qualification milestones.
  • Experience managing licensed Intellectual Property
  • Experience managing a budget
  • Experience with sensor development, preferably Lidar or Radar 
  • Experience using Jira and Confluence

The base salary range for this position is $163,000,000-$261,000 per year.  Aurora’s pay ranges are determined by role, level, and location. Within the range, the successful candidate’s starting base pay will be determined based on factors including job-related skills, experience, qualifications, relevant education or training, and market conditions. These ranges may be modified in the future. The successful candidate will also be eligible for an annual bonus, equity compensation, and benefits.
