Job Description
The Visa commercial services team develops and supports Visa commercial applications.
The Senior Dev Ops position within the team is an individual contributor role based in Bangalore, India. The successful candidate is expected to be a DevOps subject matter expert within the Cardholder Applications Development team. The selected candidate will be fully responsible for containerizing apps, building pipelines and operational excellence of services built on full stack technologies.
Responsibilities
Responsible for agile end-to-end development process within the construct of DevOps practices and methodology
Support agile ceremonies: sprint planning, daily stand ups, sprint review and sprint retrospective.
Provide technical insights to support release planning, including user stories breakdown, tasks assignment, and backlog grooming, through elicitation and clarifications of user stories and requirements with business stakeholders and communication of IT dependencies.
Adapt to best practices and lessons learned from sprint execution to maximize team velocity.
Design and develop enhancements or new services that are
Scalable, resilient, secured and decoupled
Able to detect and alert when functional or non-functional production errors occur
Able to gather and persist behavioral and performance metrics and
Deliver optimal customer experience.
Perform quality assurance testing inclusive of unit, systems, integration and regression testing, and support the development of automated test scripts to be used to automate regression testing.
Support users during their user acceptance verification.
Deploy tested enhancements or new services to certification and production environments with rollback strategies defined.
This is a hybrid position. Hybrid employees can alternate time between both remote and office. Employees in hybrid roles are expected to work from the office 2-3 set days a week (determined by leadership/site), with a general guidepost of being in the office 50% or more of the time based on business needs.
Basic Qualifications:
• 5+ years of relevant work experience and a Bachelors degree, OR 8+ years of relevant work experience
Preferred Qualifications:
• 6 or more years of work experience with a Bachelors Degree or 4 or more years of relevant experience with an Advanced Degree (e.g. Masters, MBA, JD, MD) or up to 3 years of relevant experience with a PhD
• Skilled with Kafka, Docker & Kubernetes with hands-on experience in deployment, architecture design, and optimization.
• Skilled at CI/CD using automation tools such as Chef, Jenkins, Puppet, Ansible.
• Must be proficient in one or more scripting languages: Unix Shell, Perl, Python
• Must have experience in debugging and troubleshooting problems in Linux/Unix-based application servers such as Java backend and microservices environments.
• Must have experience testing in an AGILE environment and should have exposure to testing environment migration, DB, and infrastructure/system upgrades.
• Experience using and configuring operational tools such as Splunk, and Kibana.
• Experience testing REST-based applications.
• Experience with alerts and monitoring support (Grafana/Prometheus)
• Must have experience in a technical capacity and quality methodology/release process/testing techniques to provide guidance and leadership to junior team members is required
• Ability to technically lead a small group of DevOps engineers
• Strong experience with REST APIs, JSON and exposure to container-based technologies is a plus
• Skilled in conflict management and negotiation to achieve project goals and develop trust with stakeholders
• Flexible attitude, great team player, highly driven individual and ready to work with multiple time zones cross-geographical teams
• Excellent verbal, written, and presentation skills. In particular, a demonstrated ability to effectively communicate technical and business issues and solutions to different organisational levels
• Exposure to Virtualization (Hyper-V, VMware, scvmm etc)
• Development experience/exposure with Java (alternatively a strong background in C or Go) is a plus
• Previous experience with financial services or payments processing domain is a plus.
• Similarly, experience working with cloud platforms (e.g., AWS, GCP, Azure) and infrastructure-as-code (e.g., Terraform) is a plus.
• Azure DevOps and Declarative Pipelines experience
• Prior experience with leading a team of DevOps engineers is a plus
