Position Summary 

At Liftoff, the Data A&I team is essential to the success of our Publisher side business. Our team is responsible for the efficiency, quality, and availability of Supply data for both internal and external consumption. This role will help drive the operational planning and success of Data Availability, Engineering, and Operations while also championing new technologies and methodologies to enhance data ingestion, model training, serving, and utilization. Responsibilities

  • Develop and maintain advanced supply-side data pipelines to ensure the efficient collection, cleansing, and integration of data.
  • Take ownership and work with cross-functional team to meet the dynamic needs of the business, enhancing data accuracy and reliability
  • Develop, test, and refine an attribution model that accurately assesses various advertisement types and user interactions, guaranteeing reliable and consistent publisher revenue attribution.
  • Establish and enforce data validation and cleansing routines to ensure the accuracy and dependability of data.
  • Apply advanced analytical techniques, with the assistance of the Machine learning team, to uncover insights that directly impact revenue assessment and growth strategies.
  • Share insights, best practices, and data-driven recommendations with the broader SSP team.
  • Enhance and sustain reporting service for both internal stakeholders and external partners.
  • Actively refine and uphold the quality to meet the needs.
  • Ensure compliance with data privacy regulations by implementing data governance practices within the data platform, including user consent management and data anonymization.

Qualifications:

  • BS in Computer Science with 8+ years of professional experience; or
    MS in Computer Science with 6+ years of professional experience; or
    PhD with 5+ years of experience; or equivalent work experience
  • Proficient in at least one of the following languages: scala (Preferred), Java, python
  • Proficient in Apache Spark, kafka (or relevant technologies)
  • Experience with orchestration tools like Airflow
  • Solid understanding of Object Oriented Design and Design Patterns
  • Experience with NoSQL databases, such as HBase, Cassandra, MongoDB, etc.
  • Have experience in building streaming or batch-processing data pipelines
  • Knowledge of various ETL techniques and frameworks and experience in integrating data from multiple data sources.
  • Solid understanding of distributed system concepts
  • Have an excellent understanding of scheduling and workflow frameworks and principles

Nice to Have

  • Previous experience in ad-tech
  • Work experience in building DataLake (Date Lakehouse) is a plus. 
  • Jenkins/TravisCI, Airflow, Docker, Kubernetes, AWS, Github, Databricks
  • Knowledge of Machine learning
  • Experience in working with Presto/Trino
  • Experience with data visualization techniques and tools

Location

Liftoff is a remote-first company with US hubs in Redwood City, Los Angeles, San Francisco, Orange County, and NYC. Given that most of the team is based in Orange County, it would be beneficial for the individual to be located in the OC/Los Angeles area for regular in-person meetings at our OC office (Costa Mesa, CA 92626). Most of the local team meets in-office once per week. We are also open to candidates located on the West Coast(CA, WA in US, BC in CA) who are willing to travel regularly (one week per quarter) to the OC office.

Additionally, Liftoff recently announced approved North American locations from which some employees may request to work from any city and county: California, Colorado, Idaho, Illinois, Florida, Georgia, Missouri, Minnesota, Nevada, New Jersey, New York, North Carolina, Oregon, Texas, Utah and Washington in the US, and Canada.

Liftoff offers all employees a full compensation package that includes equity and health/vision/dental benefits associated with your country of residence. Base compensation will vary based on candidate location and experience. The following are our base salary ranges for this role:


SF Bay Area, NYC, Los Angeles/Orange County: $185,000 - $230,000
Seattle/Olympia, Austin, San Diego, Santa Barbara, Boston: $170,000 - $210,000
All other cities and towns in our approved states: $160,000 - $200,000

Liftoff's compensation strategy includes competitive market rate along with equity and benefits and perks that will give our employees what they need to do their best work. In order to ensure teams are compensated fairly for the work performed, we map out specific levels and take into consideration the cost of labor within each location. Liftoff provides employees a total compensation package of competitive market salaries, equity, health and wellness stipends, medical benefits associated with your country of residence. The base compensation will vary based on location, experience as well as level.
