We are looking for a Staff Software Engineer to join Procore’s Platform Services Division. In this role, you will build and maintain tools that support the operational excellence of services and the platform.

As a Staff Software Engineer on the DevOps Tools Team, you’ll be building an operational data platform for Procore; aggregating data from many sources for analysis by leaders and teams. Components of the platform include tracking production change events to aid in quick incident response, programmatically measuring Procore’s operational, disaster recovery, and incident preparedness, as well as creating compelling data visualizations that teams and leadership can use to mature their systems. You will combine your people and technical  skills along with good design principles to create a self-service operational data platform that other platform developers can easily integrate with. The goal of this team is to help Procore maintain a high level of reliability through building tools for operational excellence. This position reports to the Engineering Manager of the DevOps Tools team and will be based in our Austin, TX office. We’re looking for someone to join us immediately.

What you’ll do:

  • Be responsible for an operational data pipeline end-to-end. All the way from receiving events to tools landing the events into the various sinks we use for analysis (Databricks, Tableau, Compass etc).

  • Implement robust and scalable devops tools.

  • Identify and propose solutions for technical and organizational gaps in our devops tools space, participate in the design and review of your tools following engineering best practices, run proof of concepts, demo for stakeholders, transform problem statements into milestones, and partner with DevOps Tools engineers and architects on implementation.

  • Mentor. Create and share best practices for the DevOps tools space with other engineers.

  • Participate in on-call rotation supporting the team’s production tools.

What we’re looking for:

  • BS degree in Computer Science, a similar technical field of study, or equivalent practical experience is required; MS or Ph.D. degree in Computer Science or a related field is preferred

  • 8+ years software development experience.

  • Experience with AWS, Spark, Databricks, Data pipelines frameworks, streaming tools (Kafka), API design. Understanding of Data Analytics is a plus. 

  • Proficient in one or more of the following: Golang, TypeScript, Kubernetes, Helm, SQL, Terraform, basic DB schema design.

  • Experience working in an Agile Environment.

Base Pay Range $158,680 - $218,185. Eligible for Bonus Incentive Compensation. Procore is committed to offering competitive, fair, and commensurate compensation, and has provided an estimated pay range for this role. Actual compensation will be based on a candidate’s job-related skills, experience, education or training, and location.
