As a Staff DevOps Engineer at Alto Pharmacy, you will play a pivotal role in shaping the future of our infrastructure and DevOps practices. As the most senior member of the DevOps team, you will drive the strategic vision, ensuring our systems are resilient, secure, and scalable to support the growth of our pharmacy operations. This role requires an individual who can lead by example, innovate with cutting-edge technologies, and mentor a growing team of engineers to deliver best-in-class solutions.
Your Impact:
Strategic DevOps Leadership:
- Lead the development and implementation of DevOps best practices across the organization, ensuring streamlined workflows, optimized CI/CD pipelines, and high availability of systems.
- Champion a culture of automation, driving improvements in infrastructure, deployment, monitoring, and performance management across multiple teams.
Architecture and Infrastructure Ownership:
- Architect, design, and oversee the management of a highly scalable, secure, and resilient cloud infrastructure using AWS, Azure, or GCP.
- Ensure our infrastructure is fully automated, leveraging infrastructure as code (IaC) tools such as Terraform, CloudFormation, or Ansible.
- Drive the adoption of containerization (Docker) and orchestration platforms (Kubernetes) to ensure efficient resource utilization and ease of deployments.
Security and Compliance:
- Lead the design and implementation of security protocols to safeguard our infrastructure, ensuring compliance with healthcare and industry-specific regulations (HIPAA, SOC 2, etc.).
- Collaborate with security teams to integrate security testing into the CI/CD pipelines and ensure the highest level of protection for sensitive data.
Collaboration and Cross-functional Leadership:
- Work closely with development, QA, operations, and product teams to ensure seamless integration of infrastructure with application development, with a focus on reliability, scalability, and continuous improvement.
- Foster close collaboration with stakeholders, aligning infrastructure goals with business objectives and enabling the delivery of reliable and innovative pharmacy solutions.
Mentorship and Team Development:
- Lead, mentor, and inspire junior engineers, helping them grow their technical skills and understanding of DevOps methodologies and tools.
- Drive knowledge-sharing initiatives, cultivating a culture of innovation, learning, and continuous improvement within the team.
Continuous Innovation:
- Stay ahead of emerging trends in cloud computing, infrastructure as code, containerization, and security to ensure Alto Pharmacy leverages state-of-the-art solutions.
- Lead initiatives for infrastructure optimization, system performance enhancements, and cost-effective scaling strategies.
Key Qualifications:

Experience: 12+ years of software engineering experience, with at least 8+ years focused on DevOps, infrastructure, and security in high-scale environments.

Leadership: Proven ability to lead large-scale DevOps transformations and manage senior stakeholders, guiding teams through complex projects.

Cloud Expertise: Deep expertise with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP) and a track record of architecting and maintaining large, multi-region infrastructures.

Containerization & Orchestration: Mastery in container technologies (Docker) and orchestration platforms (Kubernetes), with a strong ability to design and manage scalable containerized environments.

Infrastructure as Code: Expert in infrastructure automation tools such as Terraform, CloudFormation, or Ansible, with a passion for reducing manual intervention.

Security Focus: Strong understanding of security best practices, especially in regulated industries (healthcare, finance), with experience implementing robust security protocols.

Education: Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related technical field, or equivalent experience.

Additional Physical Job Requirements

Salary and Benefits
Salary Range: $172,000 - $200,000
