What You'll Do       

The Advanced Controller Development (ACD) is part of Samsung’s Memory Business Unit, the industry's technology and volume leader in DRAM, NAND Flash.  ACD’s vision is to solve key problems of Cloud & Data center by developing the new technology for storage (SSD) controller. We are an integral part of Samsung’s strong R&D focus & lab innovation engine. We work closely with development teams to bring feature innovation to product roadmaps.

Come join the team that is creating new computing system architectures needed to support emerging machine learning applications, data analytics and edge computing. You’ll focus on enhancement of storage (SSD) capability by developing the prototype controller and optimize it for mass production. 

Location: Onsite at our San Jose, California headquarters 5 days a week

  • Leading SoC architecture development in the area of the new emerging storage technology.
  • Review SoC design, verification and FW requirement.
  • Define chip level hardware performance and power requirements by collaborating with system and FW team into architecture specification.
  • Modeling and analyzing the performance, and power consumption (dynamic and static) of each component including CPU, IO interface logic, and so on.
  • Propose the new SoC architecture based on the customer requirements.

What You Bring

  • Experience in ARM CPU-subsystem architecture.
  • Experience in ARM based heterogenous SoC for ML/AI accelerators.
  • Knowledge of third party IPs such as PCIe, CXL, and DRAM Controller for the storage interfaces.
  • Deep understanding of PPA (performance, power, and area) trade-offs.
  • Experience in the programming languages such as C, SystemC, and Python for modeling the component.
  • Self-motivated problem-solver with an ability to work well in a team.
  • BE (MS preferred) in Computer/Electrical Engineering or Computer Science with 5+ years working experiences in storage industry, data center technologies, or cloud infrastructures.

Within the base pay range, individual rates depend on a number of factors—including the role’s function and location as well as the individual’s knowledge, skills, experience, education and training. This is part of our comprehensive compensation package with annual bonus eligibility and generous benefits to help you live life well.

$108,000$218,300 USD
