🚀 About the role
As a Staff Software Engineer, you work directly with several software development teams across the organization to conceive, develop, and refine our core web applications. You have a unique ability to construct and refine complex software architectures that support the scaling of our core infrastructure. You have a passion for educating developers to increase their usage of strategic changes and upgrades to the technical ecosystem.

Depending on your experience and skills, you may join one of the teams working on the fintech functionalities of our application or become part of the Platform Team.

 

Compensation: 8 500 - 9 500 USD per month (B2B)

🚀Being a Staff Engineer at Housecall Pro means:

  • Building a product that improves users’ lives (75k unique daily users, 4.6 ⭐at App Store) - learn more about the Housecall Pro mission
  • Ensure the performance, quality, and responsiveness of applications
  • Collaborating with a mature, interdisciplinary dev team (almost 100% of the Polish squad are seniors+), engineering leaders, and architects to design and deliver high-performance, scalable, and reliable architecture
  • Understand clear sub-system boundaries, and make recommendations on where functionality belongs across different sub-systems
  • Develop and maintain code quality standards and enforce them across the team
  • Continually introduce architectural improvements and refactorings to the code baseline
  • Write automated tests at the appropriate architectural level
  • Conduct code reviews and architectural reviews for features developed by other members of the team
  • Guide technical decision-making and influence cross-functional collaboration
  • Maintain and improve our continuous integration and development environments
  • Being a mentor for other team members

 

🚀  What do you need to get this job?

  • 7 - 10 years of industry experience developing commercial Ruby/RoR applications
  • Previous experience as a Technical Leader or Engineering Manager
  • Advanced knowledge of Ruby/RoR
  • Solid experience with Kafka and eventing architecture
  • Proven experience and in-depth knowledge of designing and implementing authentication and authorization solutions and related security protocols.
  • Extensive experience in designing and implementing large-scale, high-availability, and scalable systems with a focus on performance optimization 
  • Can communicate and work independently with engineering leaders and architects to see through large epics
  • Depth of understanding and teaching ability in clean code, refactoring, and test-driven development
  • Strong proficiency with continuous integration/continuous deployment
  • Fluency in Polish and English
