As a Staff Product Designer at Cruise, you will play a pivotal role in enhancing the user experience and ensuring the safety and success of our driverless operation and ridehail service. You will lead the design of cohesive user experiences for both community members and remote operators tools, driving the end-to-end design process from research and conceptualization to prototyping and implementation. Additionally, you will focus on improving on-road and community experiences, ensuring our autonomous vehicles interact seamlessly and safely with the public and other road users.
Key Responsibilities:
User Experience Design: Lead the design of complex user experiences for both consumer and fleet management tools.
End-to-End Design Process: Drive the end-to-end design process, from research and conceptualization to prototyping and implementation.
Cross-Functional Collaboration: Collaborate with cross-functional teams including engineering, product management, and operations to gather requirements, define user needs, and ensure alignment with business goals.
User Research: Develop and maintain a deep understanding of user personas and operational workflows.
Product Strategy: Proactively identify new areas of opportunity and influence product strategy.
Innovation: Champion innovative solutions, even in ambiguous or unprecedented contexts.
Mentorship: Mentor and guide other designers, setting a high standard of craftsmanship for design.
On-Road and Community Experience: Enhance the interaction between autonomous vehicles and the community, ensuring safe and effective communication and behavior on the road.
Qualifications:
Proven experience in product design, UX design, or a related field, ideally within a tech or consumer-focused company.
Strong understanding of user experience design principles and product development processes.
Excellent communication, collaboration, and project management skills.
Ability to work on strategic and systems-level projects, with a keen eye for detail and a passion for creating engaging user experiences.
Familiarity with tools such as Jira and Figma, and experience working within agile development environments.
Preferred Skills:
Experience in developing design systems and ensuring consistency across products.
Ability to navigate complex problem spaces and deliver high-quality design solutions.
Strong aesthetic ability and the capability to present work in a compelling manner.

Influence product strategy and drive innovative solutions.

The salary range for this position is $147,300 - $216,600. Compensation will vary depending on location, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. You may also be offered a bonus, long-term incentives, and benefits. These ranges are subject to change.
