If this sounds like you, here’s what you’ll do:

As the first platform engineer at Cambly, you’ll be defining the discipline and influencing the entire engineering organization. You’ll determine when we should be building for scale and when we should keep things simple. You should be excited to dig in on the pain points and opportunities facing our engineering team to build a roadmap for improving Cambly’s platform. As our team and codebase scales, you’ll be responsible for making sure we’re making the right investments to keep shipping features that keep our students learning and our pagers quiet.

  • You have 8 years or more experience working on backend infrastructure

  • You've been responsible for the uptime, scaling, and security of high availability production infrastructure

  • You have a track record of accelerating engineering productivity organization-wide through platform improvements and influencing best practices.

  • You've driven strategies around monitoring and logging and are able to make pragmatic decisions to ensure investment translates to impact.

  • Experience managing AWS infrastructure with Terraform (or similar) and an appetite for learning other cloud services like Google Cloud and Alicloud.

  • Experience owning and improving CI/CD pipelines.

  • Experience working with MongoDB (or other databases) in production.

  • A passion for learning. You fearlessly dive into new and unfamiliar technologies.

This role is based in the San Francisco Bay Area, and the expected base salary range for this position is as shown below. The actual base pay is dependent upon a variety of job-related factors such as professional background, training, work experience, business needs and market demand. Therefore, in some circumstances, the actual salary could fall outside of this expected range. This pay range is subject to change and may be modified in the future. All full-time employees are also eligible for equity compensation and for benefits.


Compensation Package $190,000-$220,000 USD Base Salary + Pre-IPO Stock Options
