About the Opportunity
Mendaera is looking for a Staff Mechanical Engineer to design, fabricate and integrate mechanical systems that enable medical interventions. These systems include robotics, mechatronics and more traditional medical devices.
The Staff Mechanical Engineer will work with Mendaera’s cross-functional engineering team to define, design, and launch robotic systems. The position reports to Mendaera’s ME Lead, and will collaborate closely with product management, clinical and other engineering teams. The annual salary range for this role is $168,000 - $211,000

Staff Mechanical Engineer responsibilities include:
- Working with product and engineering to translate user and business requirements to technical problem statements and requirements that address unmet needs
- Creating complex mechanical and mechatronic designs that meet clinical and business requirements
- Rapidly iterating through prototypes, analysis and testing to demonstrate proof-of-concept and long term sustainability of their designs
- Optimizing designs to for cost-effective manufacturing
- Developing and documenting test fixtures and protocols to verify efficacy of their designs
- Creating and managing relationships with external vendors
- Analyzing failures, and implementing solutions to mechatronic problems
Desired skills and qualities:
- Entrepreneurial, self-motivated, and independent
- Advanced technical degree and ≥7 years industry experience
- High level of emotional intelligence and ability to build and manage diverse relationships
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Versatility and ability to operate in a small-team environment
- Healthcare related experience
- Proficiency in engineering design communication, ASME Y14.5 GD&T and multi-dimensional tolerance analysis
- Experience designing components for middle and high volume production manufacturing including injection molding, and machining
- Experience with medical device quality systems and design controls
- Experience with Design Verification testing fixture and test design
