The tech stack

We use a modern technology stack including Swift/Kotlin/C++ (mobile); React.js (front end); Go (back end); AWS/Kafka/Kubernetes (infrastructure)

The role

This role sits within our Web Platform team. Web-Platform's mission is to support customer-facing engineering teams in making the best architectural decisions for their products by building out common components, libraries, and infrastructure of the highest quality and providing thought leadership on best practices around application design and architecture patterns.

The Web Platform team focuses on bringing speed, quality, and innovation to common abstractions and application-level infrastructure of the SafetyCulture web application. They provide the teams with the tools, frameworks, and support they need to build great experiences for our customers.

This team has a significant challenge ahead to help restructure the front end to improve performance and development productivity. Help us get there!

Be recognised as an expert in relevant technologies to the role, and have influence over the direction of the team and function. Improve others’ ability to deliver great work and drive initiatives focused on release safety, repeatability, and improving the way we do things. Mentor colleagues, actively engage in building a culture of candid feedback and help the engineering teams give and receive constructive feedback. We encourage involvement in the community, open-source work, attending talks and events, and experimenting with new technologies.

The teams

In Sydney we have teams developing and supporting our SaaS platform, working on extending the functionality and longer term strategic bets, including real-time incident reporting, analytics, and IoT. Each team has a co-located manager, product manager, designer, direct access to customers, and support from specialists in quality, SRE and specific technologies. How You’ll Spend Your Time?

  • You’ll collaborate effortlessly with engineering and product design teams identifying opportunities to make better user experiences
  • You'll be part of a fun team working to better understand the customer journey and deliver improvements
  • You'll understand our customers and why we build what we build through customer engagement opportunities
  • You'll be a part of team roadmap sessions to formulate and then build ideas around how to better serve our customers

About You:

  • You can demonstrate SafetyCulture values (Think Customer, Open Honest Always, Better as a Team, Be Bold Bring Action)
  • You have experience with front end build pipelines and tooling, particularly around mono-repos, micro frontends, and automated testing
  • You have experience with building web component libraries
  • You have a real focus on developer experience
  • You have an understanding of caching, server-side rendering, CDNs, edge infrastructure
  • You have a good understanding of web performance optimisation
  • You have Experience mentoring and teaching others
