Staff Engineer, Firmware Engineering

n this position, the individual will be responsible for design & development of device FW for next-generation PCIe / NVMe SSD products.

Responsibilities:

  • Design, implement, debug firmware for the next generation of SSDs
  • HW Interface drivers, algorithm design and implementation
  • Contribute to the SSD firmware and play a significant role in delivering next generation SSDs to market
  • Work with the firmware Architects, ASIC, flash media, validation and other cross functional teams on regular basis
  • Design and implement firmware algorithms needed to achieve best in class performance goals
  • Develop characterization and evaluation programs for new products
  • Support failure analysis on test systems
  • Drive team members to deliver key modules for SSD firmware by guiding, mentoring the team members
  • Active participation in technical design, implementation reviews across teams and functions
  • Bachelors of Engineering/Technology with 6+ yrs experience or Master with 4+ yrs experience in CS, CE, EE, EC or equivalent required.
  • Strong knowledge in C, Data Structure, Algorithms, Multi-threaded programming.
  • Proven experience as a firmware/software designer and/or architect.
  • Demonstrated ability to rapidly learn new technologies, complex code and developing system, architecture view.
  • Strong aptitude and penchant for problem solving, algorithm design, system design, and complexity analysis skills.
  • You are comfortable and enjoy working with dynamic and ever evolving environments.
  • Experience with mitigating design risks using research and proof of concept methods.
  • Technical mindset with great attention to detail and an ever positive, can-do attitude.
  • Demonstrate use of out-of-box thinking for creative solutions to highly sticky problems.
  • You have excellent interpersonal skills, including written and verbal communication and are an effective collaborator.
  • You'll be a fun and enthusiastic teammate who enjoys a challenge and celebrates success.
  • Familiarity with micro-controller architecture (ARM or similar) and embedded systems.
  • Previous RTOS experience.
  • Preferable to have knowledge and experience in the use of bus analyzers, JTAG, emulators and other firmware debugging tools.
