We are seeking a highly skilled Staff Data Scientist to lead a multidisciplinary team of scientists and engineers in enhancing Counterintelligence (CI) and Human Intelligence (HUMINT) systems. In this operationally critical role, you will be at the forefront of developing and deploying innovative data-driven solutions that directly impact defense intelligence collection and analytics. Your primary focus will be on improving the effectiveness and efficiency of intelligence operations by leveraging advanced data science methodologies and modern technologies.

As the Staff Data Scientist, you will guide your team in optimizing existing systems, applying machine learning, artificial intelligence, and statistical modeling techniques to enhance data analysis and decision-making processes. You will lead efforts to integrate emerging technologies, such as big data analytics and natural language processing, into operational workflows, ensuring that our intelligence capabilities are robust, responsive, and adaptive to evolving threats. Your deep understanding of operational challenges will be critical in designing solutions that address specific gaps and enhance the performance of intelligence systems.

Your role will involve close collaboration with intelligence officers, defense analysts, and other key stakeholders to identify operational needs and translate them into actionable data science projects. You will be responsible for deploying these solutions into real-world environments, conducting thorough evaluations of their impact, and continuously refining them to improve operational outcomes. With a focus on practical, results-oriented innovation, you will drive the development of tools and techniques that empower intelligence professionals to operate more effectively and efficiently. Responsibilities

  • Lead a team to conduct data analysis, engineering, and development of algorithms that support intelligence systems.

  • Design and implement machine learning driven solutions to enhance Counterintelligence and Human Intelligence collection, processing, and analysis capabilities.

  • Perform comprehensive statistical analysis, apply data mining techniques, and build high quality predictions systems.

  • Build, deploy, and maintain data pipelines that integrate with existing intelligence systems.

  • Develop automated tools and systems that optimize intelligence workflows, such as pattern recognition algorithms, recommendation engines, lead scoring algorithms.

  • Ensure data-driven solutions adhere to security standards and compliance requirements.

  • Identify and fill critical data gaps in defense intelligence operations by researching and implementing cutting-edge methodologies.

Essential

  • Hold an active TS/SCI clearance.

  • 10+ years of experience in data science, machine learning, artificial intelligence, or statistics, ideally in a defense or intelligence environment.

  • Extensive experience with Python, R, SQL, and related data science languages and frameworks

  • Proven expertise in applying data mining techniques, statistical analysis, and building high-quality prediction models for large, complex datasets. 

  • Experience in multi-intelligence data analytics, particularly in integrating disparate intelligence sources.

  • Expertise in natural language processing (NLP).

  • Strong skills in data visualization tools such as Tableau, Power BI, or similar platforms.

  • Experience working with cloud-based environments (AWS, Azure, etc.) and knowledge of scalable ML/AI architectures.

  • Familiarity with automating data pipelines and managing large-scale data engineering processes.

Preferred

  • Master’s or Ph.D. in Data Science, Machine Learning, Computer Science, Statistics, or a related field.

  • Experience developing advanced intelligence solutions for Counterintelligence and Human Intelligence operations.
