About the role

As a Staff Data Scientist at Jasper, you will help implement and train the state of the art AI & NLP models, evaluate them, and integrate them into our robust production environment for inference. You will help build automated data retrieval, feature extraction, model training and deployment at scale. You will suggest and institute appropriate evaluation metrics to evaluate models in sandbox and production environments via A/B testing framework. You are good at distilling the results and communicating it to all stakeholders in layman terms. You will keep yourself up to date with the latest research in AI & NLP and come up with proposals to improve our models. You are capable of estimating your own tasks to come up with an accurate delivery timeline for projects. You will produce high quality code through rigorous unit tests, code reviews, and documentation. You will contribute as an individual as well as be capable of leading a team to execute on projects.

The role is open to candidates located in the US and can be remote within the United States. We have offices in Austin, TX and Salt Lake City, UT with employees based across the US. We've built a strong foundation to support remote employees engagement with other teams. We have a mix of experience levels and backgrounds, and we’re building an environment that celebrates knowledge sharing, mentoring and career growth. 

What you will do at Jasper

  • Design, implement, train, and evaluate the state of the art AI & NLP models.
  • Contribute to the design and development of ML pipeline to preprocess data, extract features, train and deploy models at scale.
  • Propose and implement appropriate evaluation metrics to evaluate models.
  • Communicate the technical results to all stakeholders in layman terms.
  • Be a steward of identifying and incorporating the latest research in AI & NLP.
  • Own modules of Data Science components that you work in.
  • Contribute and evolve the roadmap for Data Science features.

What you will bring to Jasper

  • 7+ years of experience in AI, NLP, ML and Data Science.
  • 5+ years of experience solving analytical problems using data-driven and quantitative approaches.
  • Strong knowledge of statistics, error rates, and evaluation metrics.
  • Strong knowledge of analysis tools and packages such as NumPy and SciPy.
  • Strong knowledge of frameworks such as TensorFlow, PyTorch, Keras.  
  • Strong knowledge of SQL and NoSQL databases.
  • Ability to communicate technical findings in a clear, precise, and actionable manner.

Compensation Range

At Jasper, we believe in pay transparency and are committed to providing our employees and candidates with access to information about our compensation practices. The expected base salary range at offer for this role is $207,000- $240,000. Compensation may vary based on relevant experience, skills, competencies and certifications.
