About the Role:
We are seeking a highly motivated Staff Business Analyst with a strong background in genomics and oncology data to join our team. In this role, you will work closely with business and technical stakeholders to define functional requirements, user workflows, and system behaviors for our Data platform. This role offers the opportunity to drive critical data-driven solutions that support oncology research, genomic data integration, and real-world clinical outcomes, enabling Guardant Health to advance precision oncology.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

Stakeholder Engagement: Collaborate with business leaders, product managers, and technical teams to gather and document business requirements. Ensure clarity of needs and objectives specific to genomic data analytics and real-world clinical outcomes.

Business Process Analysis: Conduct detailed analysis of existing workflows, identifying opportunities for optimization and improvement. Develop process maps and recommend solutions to improve data platform workflows.

Requirements Translation: Convert business needs into detailed technical specifications, user stories, and acceptance criteria for development teams to implement.

Solution Design: Work with technical architects to design scalable data solutions that align with business objectives, focusing on data interoperability, longitudinal patient and genomic data, and cancer research workflows.

Project Management: Track project milestones, manage risks, and address any challenges to ensure successful delivery of genomic data solutions.

User Support: Serve as a subject matter expert in oncology and genomic data workflows, providing guidance to users and stakeholders. Facilitate user training and support the adoption of new data platform features, including those related to genetic testing results and variant reporting.

Configuration and Customization: Collaborate with technical teams to configure and tailor the data platform to meet the specific needs of oncology research, clinical trials, and genomics, enabling precise analysis of genetic mutations and alterations.

Proof of Concept: Lead the development of proof-of-concept solutions to demonstrate the feasibility of proposed features and data models.

Testing and Quality Assurance: Coordinate User Acceptance Testing (UAT) and ensure that solutions meet business requirements before going live. Oversee the creation of test plans, scripts, and execution strategies.

Documentation: Develop comprehensive documentation, including business requirements, workflows, and user guides. Use visual aids such as process flows and diagrams to ensure clear understanding.

Continuous Improvement: Identify areas for process automation and enhancement to improve efficiency and support business growth in oncology research and patient outcomes.

Team Collaboration: Work cross-functionally with developers, support teams, and QA to deliver high-quality data solutions.
- 6+ years of experience as a Business Systems Analyst or Product Owner, particularly in data products, genomics & real-world data (RWD) solutions.
- Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field (Engineering, Computer Science, Data Science, or similar) or equivalent industry experience.
- Experience gathering requirements and building data-centric applications, with a focus on oncology, healthcare data, or biopharma.
- Strong understanding of real-world evidence (RWE), genomic and clinical data analysis.
- Hands-on experience with data platforms, data lakes, and analytics tools.
- Experience leveraging data-driven insights and working with large, complex datasets.
- Strong technical design and analysis skills with a focus on real-world data systems.
- Experience working in an Agile environment and familiarity with tools like Jira.
- Healthcare experience, especially working with HIPAA-compliant environments, is mandatory.
Hybrid Work Model: At Guardant Health, we have defined days for in-person/onsite collaboration and work-from-home days for individual-focused time. All U.S. employees who live within 50 miles of a Guardant facility will be required to be onsite on Mondays, Tuesdays, and Thursdays. The US base salary range for this full-time position is $90,000 to $144,000. The range does not include benefits, and if applicable, bonus, commission, or equity. The range displayed reflects the minimum and maximum target for new hire salaries across all US locations for the posted role with the exception of any locations specifically referenced below (if any).
For positions based in Palo Alto, CA or Redwood City, CA, the base salary range for this full-time position is $120,000 to $162,000. The range does not include benefits, and if applicable, bonus, commission, or equity.
Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including, but not limited to, job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training. If you are selected to move forward, the recruiting team will provide details specific to the factors above.
Employee may be required to lift routine office supplies and use office equipment. Majority of the work is performed in a desk/office environment; however, there may be exposure to high noise levels, fumes, and biohazard material in the laboratory environment. Ability to sit for extended periods of time.
