We are looking for an experienced System Integration Engineer with Mechanical or Electrical background to work with the team of engineers developing the energy storage and power distribution system for an electric eVTOL aircraft. You will be part of the team that delivers the battery module and pack hardware. The role calls for onsite presence, on the shop floor, where you will be hands-on with the hardware, acting as the bridge between production and the wider design team.
This position is onsite to support the Wisk engineering organization at Wisk Corporate Headquarters in Mountain View, CA.
What you will do:
- Build High-Voltage (+600VDC) DC battery, including first articles and production builds
- Lead engineer on battery builds comfortable leading a team of junior engineers and technicians
- Demonstrated knowledge and experience working with high-voltage stored energy and upholding company HV policies
- Communicate problems and implement solutions across production and design teams for a High-Voltage DC battery system
- Troubleshooting problems in complex mechanical, electrical, and software-integrated systems
- Supports IPTs and respective SMEs in the technical execution of the program
- Be responsible for physical architectures of the battery system
- Working closely with partners or suppliers in the execution activities of the program
- Supports the planning and execution of the integration, verification and validation activities
- Supports the system installation, and respective safety zonal and particular risk requirements
- Manage SWAP (Size, Weight, Power and Cost)
What you have done:
- BS, MS, or PhD in Mechanical, Electrical, Aerospace, or Aeronautical Engineering
- 8+ years Mechanical/Electrical Engineering work experience
- 6+ years of relevant work experience in Energy Storage or HV Power Systems
- Extensive hands-on experience in design, build, and test
- Extensive hands-on experience with High Voltage battery systems
- Strong understanding of Mechanical Engineering fundamentals (statics, dynamics, structural mechanics, thermal, etc.)
- Familiar with CAD software such as Siemens NX(preferred), Solidworks, etc.
- Familiar with drafting standards, including GD&T, and can interpret or create engineering drawings
Desired:
- Familiarity with aircraft certification and aerospace best practices and standards
- Experience leading cross-functional integrated project teams including schedule, budget, and technical oversight
- Experience in field engineering/product sustainment.
