Staff Accountant

As a member of the accounting team, you will be working in a collaborative and dynamic environment at Merchants Fleet. You will have the opportunity to work with teams across the company to ensure accurate financial statements, develop process improvements, and ensure the integrity of financial accounting and reporting. You will also have a strong focus on cash accounting and commission reporting.

Location:  Merchants Fleet Headquarters in Hooksett, NH

What Your Day Looks Like:

• Ensure the integrity and proper documentation of transactions within the accounting cycle
• Ensure accuracy of system postings and data exports relating to commission reporting and cash reconciliation
• Develop and implement process improvements
• Assist in the month-end closing and financial reporting process, including account analysis and reconciliation
• Participate in the annual financial audit and prepare supporting schedules and other requests
• Process commissions: Calculate, review, and verify commission payments in various administrative systems
• Responsible for the daily cash reconciliation for multiple bank accounts
• Other tasks as assigned

Your Attributes and Skills:

• Comfortable multitasking and working independently with flexibility/adaptability
• Can-do attitude and intellectual curiosity
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills
• Strong organizational and time management skills
• Advanced Microsoft Excel skills a must
• Comfortable working with large volumes of transactions and data sets
• Fast learner of new technology and systems

The Experience and Education You Bring:

• 0-3 years of experience in public/private accounting
• knowledge of GAAP
• Experience in Lease Accounting a plus
• Experience with Great Plains Dynamics, Blackline, Planful, Dataserv or SQL is a plus
• B.S. degree in Accounting/Finance or related field, C.P.A. preferred
