We have an opening for an Academic Graduate Appointee to test the influence of different carbon substrates on microbial growth and mortality in soil environments. You will conduct high-throughput isotope-targeted substrate addition incubations using California soil samples. Responsibilities will include molecular biology tasks such as monitoring soil incubations, isotope tracing into nucleic acids, and basic data analysis, along with extracting nucleic acids for processing on LLNL’s High Throughput SIP robotic pipeline. Additionally, you will analyze soil samples for physicochemical characteristics and participate in field campaigns to collect samples, working within the Environmental Isotope Systems group in the Nuclear and Chemical Sciences Division.
