Primary Function of Position:
This role is the Mexicali based Sr Supplier Engineering support for sustaining activities for Core Instruments & Accessories, reporting directly to Manufacturing Engineering Sr. Manager with dotted line to Supplier Engineering Manager at SV. The role will interface directly with our external Suppliers, Internal purchasing, Manufacturing and Quality teams working along with SV Supplier Engineering to solve issues occurring in the Mexicali plant.
Roles & Responsibilities:
- Lead Mexicali based VR activities and reporting to reduce quantity and improve aging, including identifying changes to specifications and drawings for review and implementation by SV Supplier Engineering.
- Lead Mexicali based activities to eliminate recurrent VRs including route cause investigation.
- Provide VR reporting for monthly quality review.
- Provide local SE support to key suppliers for day-to-day issue resolution, including chronic component shortage issues
- Avoid line stoppage due to lack of raw material, avoid LINE DOWN".
- Support SV projects to improve supply base business and manufacturing process performance to meet Intuitive Surgical’s requirements for supplier excellence using a collection of best practices in project management, Six Sigma, Lean, SPC and negotiation.
- Support SV led supplier change management projects.
- Effectively prioritize and advance multiple concurrent projects and tasks.
- Clearly communicate project status to key stakeholders internally and in our supply chain.
Skills, Experience, Education, & Training:
- BS degree in Engineering or equivalent, advanced degree preferred
- 6+ years related experience in Supplier Quality, Supplier Development, or related field
- Strong experience in electronics, specialized in IPC design decisions (what technology is best to use with the supplier, what type of soldering is best, what type of conformal coating).
- Lead VR's (Variance Request) experience mandatory
- Experience in disposition of rejected material, whether to do SCRAP, Conform, Return to vendor, etc,
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills (English and Spanish)
- Demonstrated Project Management skills a plus
- Outstanding analytical skills along with good judgment
- Demonstrable knowledge of a range of manufacturing processes including understanding of key input variables for quality, cost and capacity
- Strong handing SCAR resolutions thru 8D/CAPA methodology
- Knowledge of 21 CFR part 820 and ISO 13485 is a plus
- Proficient in MS Office and ERP Information Systems, preferably SAP
- Experience in a high-volume medical device company is a plus
- Ability to travel to suppliers on an as needed basis – domestic and international
