Sr Software Engineer- ML

Primary Function:

We are seeking a highly motivated senior software engineer to design, develop, test, and maintain production-ready software for Data and ML pipelines deployed on prem, edge, and cloud infrastructure. Our team is focused on developing AI models for a variety of applications leveraging foundation models for medical robotics. This role is an exciting opportunity to join a vibrant team, advance the state-of-the-art in AI for surgical robotics, and develop high impact products that enhance the lives of patients around the world.

Responsibilities:

  • Develop, maintain, and test production software for ML Pipelines.
  • Develop, maintain, and test production software for Data Pipelines throughout the lifecycle (collection, processing, annotation, storage, and mining).
  • Develop, maintain, and test production software for multi-modal (vision, audio, robotics, etc.) data collection.
  • Provide technical support to internal users and external partners.

Techincal Requirements:

  • Minimum Bachelor's or Master’s degree in computer science, electrical and computer engineering, or related fields.
  • Minimum (5) years of industry experience in production software development, with a focus on AI/ML.
  • Proficiency in:
    • Back-end: Python, C++, Shell, Java, Node.js, Ruby, or equivalent.
    • Databases: relational (e.g., MySQL) and NoSQL (e.g., MongoDB).
    • AI/ML tools (e.g., PyTorch, Numpy, SciPy, OpenCV, Pandas, scikit-learn).
    • Containerization (e.g., Docker).
  • Knowledge of:
    • Computer networks: security and protocols (e.g., TCP/IP, HTTP, SSH).
    • Cloud platforms (e.g., AWS, GCP, Azure).
    • DevOps practices (e.g., CI/CD, monitoring).
    • API design (RESTful, GraphQL).
  • Experience with Agile development methodologies.
  • Knowledge of signal processing algorithms and filtering techniques.
  • Knowledge of cyber-security requirements for data in healthcare applications.

AI/ML Specific Requirements:

  • Experience with MLOps best practices and ML product lifecycle.
  • Experience with AI/ML workflow management tools (e.g., Kubeflow, MLflow).
  • Experience with GPU accelerated algorithms and implementations.
  • Knowledge of deep learning architectures (e.g., CNNs, RNNs, Transformers).
  • Knowledge of computer vision and natural language processing concepts and algorithms (supervised, unsupervised, self-supervised, reinforcement learning).
  • Knowledge of model optimization methods (e.g., quantization, pruning, knowledge distillation).
  • Knowledge of classical data science algorithms (e.g., regression, classical Machine Learning algorithms).

Soft Skills and Leadership Requirements:

  • Excellent communication (written and verbal) and collaboration skills.
  • Experience with code reviews and providing constructive feedback.
  • Solid problem-solving skills and ability to debug complex issues.
  • Excellent technical leadership and mentorship skills.
  • Able to view live and recorded surgical procedures.
