Sr SDET - Database Testing

Roles and Responsibilities

• Ensure data accuracy, completeness, and integrity throughout the data engineering process.
• Implement data validation checks to identify anomalies, errors, or inconsistencies.
• Validate Extract, Transform, Load (ELT) processes to ensure data is correctly extracted from source systems and loaded into the target systems.
• Validate the enriched/transformed data according to business rules in the data warehouse/data lake
• Evaluate the performance of data processing and transformation tasks to ensure they meet specified performance benchmarks.
• Identify and address bottlenecks or performance issues.
• Conduct regression testing to ensure that changes or updates to existing data processes do not negatively impact existing functionality.
• Develop and maintain automated test scripts for repetitive tasks to improve efficiency and accuracy.
• Implement continuous integration and continuous testing practices.
•  cases, test results, and any issues identified during testing.
• Work closely with data engineers, developers, and cross-functional teams to address quality-related issues and ensure seamless integration.
• Ensure compliance with data governance, security, and privacy policies.
• Verify that data handling and processing adhere to regulatory requirements.
• Provide regular updates on testing progress, issues, and resolutions to relevant stakeholders.
• Collaborate with the development team to address and resolve identified defects.
• Maintain documentation for future reference and audits.

Technology Skills:

• Familiarity with columnar database technologies (e.g., Yellowbrick, Vertica, Snowflake, Redshift).
• Mandatory proficiency in SQL.
• Preferred exposure to NoSQL databases (e.g., MongoDB, Cassandra, Couchbase).
• Proficient in Kubernetes and containerized deployment.
• Preferred familiarity with message queues/brokers such as Apache Kafka, RabbitMQ, or SQS.
• Proficient in utilising a streaming engine like Apache Flink.
• Proficient in utilising business intelligence tools like Tableau/Qlikview/Sisense, etc
• Hands-on experience with Python/Java
• Automation experience in automating functional test scenarios
