Description

Fulcrum Therapeutics is seeking a Senior Research Associate/Associate Scientist, who will be a driven professional, eager to bolster our in vivo pharmacology research initiatives. This role involves spearheading the design and implementation of both in vivo and ex-vivo pharmacology studies, critically contributing to our understanding of the pharmacokinetics/pharmacodynamics (PK/PD), target engagement, and therapeutic efficacy of our novel drug candidates. As a crucial member of our multidisciplinary team, you will have the opportunity to lead and execute pre-clinical discovery studies, generating decisional data packages to support the advancement of clinical candidates.

Responsibilities

  • Carry out rodent in vivo studies adhering to IACUC standards, independently and within a team dynamic.
  • Design and execute studies ranging from early exploration to IND submission stages, focusing on in vivo/ex vivo sample generation and analysis, PK/PD modeling and therapeutic efficacy.
  • Performing assays to assess target engagement and biomarker analysis in samples such as blood, bone marrow, and muscle tissue, contributing to our understanding of disease mechanisms.
  • Develop, optimize and conduct in vitro assays and molecular biology techniques including but not limited to RT-qPCR, ELISA, protein assay and flow cytometry.
  • Demonstrate independent thought/creativity in science with excellent collaboration and communication across functional disciplines and multitasking skills.
  • Maintain accurate, timely and complete electronic laboratory notebook entries.

Qualifications

  • BS or MS with relevant experience in areas related to Cell Biology, Molecular Biology and/or Pharmacology in an academic or industry setting.
  • Experience working with rodents, administering doses through various methods including but not limited to PO, IP, IV, SC and IM, and conducting post-study processes including blood draws, necropsies, and ex vivo sample analysis.
  • Experience with Contract Research Organizations (CROs) is an asset.
  • Hands-on experience with a range of in vitro/ ex vivo techniques (such as RNA/DNA extraction, RT-qPCR, ELISA, protein analysis via Western blot, WES, and/or MSD) is desirable.
  • Experience running flow, ICC, FISH, and/or IHC imaging assays is a plus.
  • Proven ability to independently plan and execute experiments, analyze data, and present findings.
