SUMMARY:
The Senior Project Manager is responsible for leveraging expert project management, team leadership, and strategic ownership skills to continuously deliver features, enhancements, and updates to Edmentum’s Learning and Assessment product portfolios. The Senior Project Manager manages a variety of different projects, from small scale content development projects up to and including large scale, highly cross functional strategic initiatives. In addition to leading teams in the successful creation and delivery of projects, this position will develop and implement processes and procedures across the department to drive improved portfolio management.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Deliver, integrate, and continuously improve the PMO 4 P's (Project Management, Portfolio Management, Process Management, and People-Centered Best Practices).
• Accountable for the entire project lifecycle, including initiation, launch, planning, execution, and close-out. Must ensure projects are successfully delivered on time, within budget, and to stakeholder specifications.
• Lead and motivate a high-performance team that delivers high quality work.
• Independently develop work estimates, work breakdown structures and the project work plan; prepare a consolidated work plan for initiatives that involve multiple related projects.
• Proactively manage risk, anticipate possible issues, implement appropriate mitigations, and remove blockers. Maintain project health and independently manage actions and timelines to improve health if issues occur.
• Manage multiple projects across a portfolio simultaneously. Manage projects with multiple workgroups with significant scope.
• Anticipate stakeholder needs and successfully manage changes in project scope, schedule, budget, and personnel independently. Advise leadership on solutions. Negotiate, set, and manage stakeholder’s expectations. Ensure project objectives are set and roles of team members are clear.
• Monitor and review team outputs for multiple teams. Hold team members accountable to commitments.
• Create and maintain project documentation and tracking to support team process. Standardize and scale processes across projects.
• Lead and participate in ongoing improvement activities involving processes, methodologies, best practices, and tools.
• Act as a peer leader within the Program Management Office, mentoring project managers and contract staff.
• Communicate project progress frequently and effectively to all stakeholders.
• Additional duties as assigned.
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
• Four-year undergraduate degree in business or related field. Masters or advanced degree preferred.
• 6+ years related experience, including at least 4 years of project/program management or managerial experience with implementation of large scale, cross-functional projects in a technology environment
• 4 years of experience in education technology and/or publishing experience
• Intermediate to expert level proficiency with Visio, PowerPoint, Sharepoint, and SmartSheet
• SAFe, Scrum, and/or PMP certification preferred
• Experience presenting to stakeholders and/or Senior Leadership
• Demonstrated achievements in planning, directing and implementing complex projects on time, within budget and with desired functionality
• Ability to be broadly focused and manage multiple efforts concurrently
• Ability to work effectively with all levels of the organization; including staff, business stakeholders, and all levels of management
• Strong written and verbal communication skills, including with Executive audiences
• Strong conflict resolution, negotiating and influencing skills
• Ability to work in fast-paced, changing, and ambiguous environments.
• Highly organized and detail oriented
• Managed projects with $2 million cost and 40+ assigned resources
