Sr. Paralegal- Tort Litigation

McDonald's Corporation has an opening for an experienced litigation paralegal.  This person will be a member of the Tort Litigation Practice Group and should be well versed in litigation and tort law.  The Tort Litigation Team provides legal support in several areas including managing claims and litigation brought against restaurants in the United States.

Responsibilities:

  • Prioritize matters (thousands each year) for handling claims and litigation including assisting attorneys with responding to discovery requests by gathering internal documents
  • Process and monitor responses to subpoenas addressed to the Company
  • Work with insurance carriers to obtain investigative reports and updates on all sensitive claims and provide same to the attorneys for reporting, updating, and auditing files
  • Develop working relationships and handle regular communications with business clients, suppliers, outside counsel, and consultants
  • Assist attorneys in responding to indemnification requests, management letters, attorney representation letters, and video preservation requests.
  • 5+ years of relevant work experience, preferably in a large publicly-traded company
  • Paralegal Certificate required
  • The applicant must demonstrate strong skills in the following areas: writing, analytical, communication, organizational, interpersonal and time management
  • Applicant must be comfortable working independently, as well as a part of a team, and will be required to effectively prioritize a large volume of confidential and time-sensitive work with short deadlines
  • Contribute to the team’s success by being an active participant and promoting a shared responsibility for achieving results
  • Comfortable working in a paperless environment, with electronic documents and electronic records management.
