About the Role

In this role, you will be an advocate and coach for the mobile team while solving various mobile challenges, doing hands-on coding, and scaling product success at a fast-paced start-up. Our ideal candidate leverages their leadership, technical expertise, and passion to multiply the overall output of their development team.

We’re looking for someone with a deep understanding of mobile engineering with a passion for speed, quality, performance, and scale. You are passionate about crafting delightful, useable, consumer-grade iOS and Android applications in a B2B environment. You love to ship and delight users as much as setting up systems and processes to enable faster mobile development releases. Engineering Management or Tech Leadership experience is a plus. You’ve been around for a few Android and/or iOS releases and you know how to delight users. You’ve got an eye for the appealing design our users expect and an attention to detail down to the very last pixel. You know your way around both legacy and modern native patterns and are eager to partner with Product and Design to craft efficient, performant, and delightful user experiences.

About the team

As an iOS/Android Engineer, you like building for the long term and value patterns and architectural design that allow for maximum flexibility in a constantly evolving product. You excel in leading others and mentoring and growing other mobile engineers is something you are passionate about. You set a high bar for the technical design and code quality of your team. You demonstrate exceptional ownership of not only the area of your team, but across entire mobile codebase. You have a “can do” demeanor and nothing is beneath you or outside your responsibilities because you do what it takes to deliver the highest quality code and the most impactful features.

Requirements

• 4+ years of working experience in iOS and/or Android product development
• Deep understanding of iOS development and best practices in Objective-C and/or Swift and UI development in iOS and/or deep understanding of Android development and best practices in Kotlin/Java and UI development in Android
• Know how around how to build and maintain automated deployment pipelines and ways to efficiently and continuously get apps to the stores
• Experience working closely with product teams, designers, and other developers to create a truly delightful mobile experience
• Own and contribute to each step of the product development process, from ideation to implementation to release; from rapidly prototyping, running A/B tests, to architecting and building solutions that can scale to support users
• Experience developing highly performant code and view layouts and the ability to diagnose performance bottlenecks
• A disciplined approach to development, testing, documentation and code structure in a team environment
• An excellent approach to guiding, influencing, and growing other mobile engineers and teams
• A familiarity with the iOS or Android tool ecosystem for development, testing, debugging, and performance benchmarking
• An excellent understanding of standard methodologies for concurrency and threading
• A constant desire to improve, learn more and take things higher
• A desire to contribute best-in-class programming skills to develop highly innovative consumer-facing mobile products
• Experience with offline capable/first applications which handle data syncing to backend services, ensuring everything runs smoothly, efficiently, and securely.

What we're looking for

• Knowledge of multi-threading, logging, memory management, caching, and builds on iOS and Android
• Expertise in developing and debugging across a diverse service stack including storage and data solutions
• Demonstrated track record of improving software quality with stable releases
• Experience on platform teams/initiatives, driving technology adoption across feature teams
• Keeps up to date with new technologies to understand what should be incorporated
• Strong collaboration and communication skills
• Understanding of A/B testing in a mobile environment is a plus
