Position Summary: 

  • Are you interested in a unique and challenging role applying your advanced SAS programming skills? We are looking to combine your advanced SAS programming skills and ideas with our Clinical Scientist and Data Manager expertise to produce the critical tools, visualizations and outputs that make a clinical trial successful!  We understand the power of SAS in the day-to-day management of clinical trial data are and looking for programmers interested in non-SDTM and ADaM dataset and TLF programming to join our amazing team. 
  • Focused on developing and maintaining SAS programming to support the review of clinical data as part of a cross-functional data review and cleaning approach including routine safety and risk assessments specifically supporting the Medical Science and Clinical and Data Operations departments (e.g., medical monitors, clinical scientists, data managers)
  • This is not standard statistical programming including generation of SDTM and ADaM datasets and TLFs to support the formal analysis of clinical trial data

Essential functions of the job include but are not limited to:  

  • Requires the ability to apply advanced SAS programming skills to clean and unclean clinical data in multiple formats (e.g., application of oncology disease assessment criteria, CTCAE criteria, etc.)
  • Includes the development of complex proprietary patient profiles designed to facilitate efficient holistic data review & centralized monitoring, aggregate data review workbooks, metrics, projections, graphs and other data visualizations
  • Contributes to the development and enhancement of programming standards to ensure efficiency and consistency across projects
  • Run SAS programs and provide outputs at study defined frequencies to internal and external team members/study drives
  • Supports the conduct of User Acceptance Testing (UAT) / validation of programmed outputs
  • Supports the maintenance of a central SAS macro library
  • Responsible to support the development/maintenance of standard tools for use across the programming function
  • Collaborate with internal functional leads to achieve study objectives
  • Support Leads to ensure the study budget applicable to programming remains within scope and that any out-of-scope activities are identified
  • Participates as needed in internal and external study-specific team meetings
  • May serve as the function subject matter expert (SME) defining and supporting departmental initiatives, departmental best practices, providing technical support and training of more junior programmers, project challenges, etc.
  • Performs other duties as assigned by management

Qualifications: 

Minimum Required: 

 

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent combination of education/experience in science, math or health-related discipline with proficiency in SAS programming
  • Minimum of 8 years of experience in clinically based programming within the either the CRO or pharmaceutical industry or proven competencies for this position

 

Other Required: 

  • Advanced/excellent understanding of and experience with: SAS Base, SAS macro facility, database design principles, general statistical concepts and procedures
  • Experience producing output to various destinations (Word, Excel, XML, Adobe)
  • Demonstrated ability to support tasks to achieve goals
  • Experience with electronic data capture systems
  • Experience with Microsoft Office Products (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to effectively interface with others in a team setting
  • Excellent organization skills, attention to detail and a customer service demeanor
  • Professional use of the English language; both written and oral
  • May require minimal travel
