We’re looking for a self-motivated, practical and creative attorney who will report to our Head of Product, Engineering & Business Development Legal and devise legal strategy for various critical areas of our core product. We are a small and nimble team supporting a growing business, so you’ll need to be enthusiastic about working successfully as a manager, an individual contributor, and a team player. In this role, your primary focus will be managing a small team, supporting our core product, and negotiating related strategic partnerships. You’ll be a subject matter expert and influential advisor to senior business and legal leadership alike, and will drive strategy on cutting-edge legal issues.
What you’ll do:
- Build and manage a small legal team supporting critical areas of the core Pinterest product.
- Devise legal strategy and advise product, engineering, business development, strategy and communications leaders on key emerging areas for our core product, with a particular focus on AI, content acquisition, IP/copyright, open source, and privacy issues.
- Negotiate and lead ongoing legal support for strategic partnerships related to emerging technologies leveraged by our core product, with a particular focus on AI.
- Develop and drive implementation of processes, resources, and measures to manage risk, increase speed and efficiency, and advance the long-term business goals of Pinterest.
What we’re looking for:
- JD with 10+ years of experience handling consumer internet matters in a demanding and innovative legal environment; at least 2 years in-house at a tech company preferred.
- Admitted to the bar and in good standing or otherwise authorized to practice law in California.
- Experience counseling on issues related to artificial intelligence, copyright, and privacy.
- Proven leadership skills; experience managing teams preferred.
- Experience drafting and negotiating complex technology deals.
- Exceptional judgment and impeccable integrity with excellent communication skills.
- Process-driven and results-oriented with proven ability to identify, prioritize and resolve issues quickly and independently.
- Strategic thinking, with a track record of delivering creative and pragmatic solutions to novel issues.
- Strong project management skills, with ability to build sustainable programs and processes for scale and drive strategic, cross-functional initiatives to completion.
