As a Sr. Director of Investor Relations, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the success and profitability of our solar and storage projects. You will work closely with SVP, Project Finance and be responsible for managing relationships with investors, tax equity partners, and lenders, optimizing the financial performance of our asset portfolio, and ensuring compliance with all partnership agreements and financing arrangements.

The ultimate goal of this role will be to ensure that the experience of our partners, investors, and lenders enables continued repeat transactions and supports compliance with all underlying agreements. The role supports the performance of the joint ventures through contractual review, partnership communication, reporting and other deliverables requirements, budgeting and cash flow forecasts, coordination of services and other related activities. 

What You’ll Do

Investor and Tax Equity Partner Management

  • Cultivate and maintain strong relationships with investors and tax equity partners.
  • Act as the primary point of contact for these stakeholders during the operations phase, addressing their inquiries and concerns.
  • Collaborate with the finance, transactions, engineering and legal teams to provide feedback in the negotiation of partnership agreements, providing a feedback loop of effective and ideal provisions.
  • Ensure compliance with all contractual obligations and reporting requirements.
  • Manage the process to receive consent approvals from partners and lenders.
  • Lead preparation and collection of documentation from various internal groups to support regular meetings with partners, providing construction, financial, and operational updates.

Lender Management

  • Maintain relationships with existing lenders and finance partners
  • Monitor debt covenants and financial performance to ensure compliance with loan agreements.
  • Work closely with the project finance team to optimize debt financing and refinancing opportunities.
  • Prepare and present financial reports and performance metrics to lenders on a regular basis.
  • Provide cash flow budgets, projections, and manage distributions to lenders.

Portfolio Performance and Strategy

  • Develop strategies to maximize the financial performance of the solar and storage asset portfolio in collaboration with Asset Management and Operations teams.
  • Identify operational and financial improvements to enhance project returns.
  • Collaborate with finance and asset management teams to evaluate potential value-enhancing initiatives and support financial modeling.
  • Generate insightful reports and dashboards for senior management, asset managers, and operations and maintenance providers.

Reporting and Documentation

  • Prepare accurate and timely financial reports for investors, tax equity partners, and lenders.
  • Maintain detailed records of all partnership agreements, loan documents, and related correspondence.
  • Lead organization and implementation of systems and processes to ensure compliance with all financing requirements
  • Ensure compliance with all regulatory and contractual reporting requirements in close coordination with Asset Management team.

Must-Haves

  • Proven experience (7+ years) in partnership management/investor relations or project finance, with at least some in the renewable energy industry.
  • Strong understanding of renewable energy finance, tax equity structures (preferably inverted lease and partnership structures), and project finance structures.
  • Proficiency in financial modeling, cash forecasting, and reading/interpreting contracts including partnership agreements.
  • Strong external party relationship skills and ability to work well and collaborate with an internal cross-functional team.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to think strategically.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively present complex information to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Self-motivated with the ability to work independently and manage multiple projects simultaneously.

Education and Certifications 

  • Bachelor's degree in finance, business, engineering or a related field.

Work Environment

  • Remote with limited travel to meet with partners, lenders, and other external stakeholders.
