The Impact You’ll Make
Recursion is at the forefront of reimagining drug discovery through the integration of automated cell biology, high-dimensional and diverse data sets, and sophisticated analytics. We are seeking a Senior Director who will lead our production team that is responsible for the execution of kinetic multimodal/omic data generation in support of industrialized workflows and map exploration activities.. To assure success, as a leader within the biology platform you will collaborate with other platform teams to assure robust productionalization of new technologies and assays for both internal and partner programs.
In this role you will:

Empower by mentoring and developing a highly capable production team that executes work across 4 shifts, 7 days a week, 16 hours per day

Innovate by Partnering with Software Engineering, Automation, and Assay Development teams to assure constant improvement as we rapidly deploy new technologies and assay to the platform

Scale and adapt operation to enable increasing complexity in our automated cell biology platform while maintaining an agile and flexible operation

Build relationships with key collaborators to assure rapid productionalization of technologies or methodologies

This position is based at our headquarters in Salt Lake City, Utah. Relocation will be available for candidates who are not local to the area.
The Team You’ll Join
Reporting to the Vice President of Biology Platform, you will join a high performing and mission- focused team. The team is tenacious and focuses on challenging the status quo while simultaneously delivering high quality data.
The Experience You’ll Need
- A background in Biology, Chemistry, Engineering or related fields with 10+ years experience working across multiple relevant functions including systems engineering, high throughput laboratory automation, process development, and translational teams
- Bachelor’s degree in a scientific discipline, a graduate degree is desirable
- In-depth experience running and scaling high throughput laboratory operations with direct experience in multi-dimensional assays such as phenomics, NGS, Mass Spectrometry
- Experience in compound/biological material management with a background in LIMs development and integration is highly desirable
- Demonstrated ability to align on the tactics and strategies needed for successful operations and influence cross-functionally to translate innovative technology visions into operational reality
- Proven leadership and strong reputation with developing and empowering high capability production teams
- Excellent organizational, planning and analytical skills
- Familiarity and experience in the concepts of Lean/Six Sigma, Industrial Engineering or Familiarity Factor are highly desirable

At Recursion, we believe that every employee should be compensated fairly. Based on the skill and level of experience required for this role, the estimated current annual base range for this role is:
- Developing: $225,000
- Skilled: $250,000
- Expert: $275,000
