Sr. Data Center Operations Analyst I

As part of the Shutterfly Datacenter Operations Team (DCO), you will be expected to provide deep organizational knowledge, strategic oversight for our datacenters and support of the MDF/IDF infrastructures. The Senior Data Center Operations Analyst will be responsible for overseeing the critical components of power, space, and cooling within our locations. This role involves hands-on support for local datacenter operations, coordination and direction of remote site support, care and feeding of UPS/PDU’s, hands on support with interfaces, cabling, as well as providing console support when needed. The ideal candidate will have experience with Hyperview, APC, and EATON systems and will play a key role in coordinating support for remote data center locations.
 
Primary Duties and Responsibilities
 
Power Management:
o    Oversee the operation and maintenance of power systems, including UPS and in rack PDU.
o    Monitor and optimize power usage effectiveness (PUE) and implement energy-saving measures.
o    Address and resolve power-related issues, ensuring continuity of service.
Space Management:
o    Manage the physical space within the data center, optimizing the arrangement of equipment and airflow.
o    Plan and execute data center reconfigurations, consolidations and expansions to accommodate new equipment and changes in infrastructure.
o    Maintain up-to-date documentation on equipment placement and space utilization.
Cooling Management:
o    Monitor and operate cooling systems to ensure proper temperature and humidity control.
o    Implement cooling efficiency strategies to enhance performance and reduce energy consumption.
Hands-On Support:
o    Provide on-site support for the installation, replacement, and maintenance of data center equipment, including racked gear, interfaces, cabling and labeling.
o    Perform routine inspections and preventive maintenance on data center infrastructure.
o    Ensure that equipment and cabling are properly installed and configured.
Console and Interface Support:
o    Offer console support for various data center systems and provide hands-on assistance as required.
o    Assist with troubleshooting and resolving issues related to interfaces and system connections.
Coordination and Communication:
o    Coordinate with remote data center teams and vendors to address and resolve issues effectively.
o    Serve as the primary point of contact for local operations while liaising with remote locations to ensure seamless support and operations.
o    Prepare and present detailed reports on data center performance, incidents, and operational improvements.
Tools and Systems:
o    Utilize Hyperview, APC, EATON, and other data center management tools for monitoring and reporting.
o    Leverage data and analytics to drive operational improvements and inform decision-making
 
Qualifications:
•    At least 5 years of experience in data center operations with a focus on power, space, and cooling management.
•    Proficiency with Hyperview, APC, EATON, and related data center management tools.
•    Hands-on experience with replacing and installing data center equipment, interfaces, and cabling.
•    Strong understanding of data center infrastructure, including power systems, cooling systems, and space management.
•    Excellent problem-solving and analytical abilities with a keen attention to detail.
•    Strong communication and coordination skills.
•    Ability to work effectively in high-pressure situations and manage multiple priorities.
 
Additional Information:
 
•    Work Environment: The role may require occasional travel to remote data center locations and availability for on-call support during off-hours.
•    Physical Requirements: Ability to lift and move equipment as needed, and work in varying physical conditions typical of data center environments.
