The Senior Corporate Communications Lead will help tell Pinterest’s business, people, recruiting and diversity, equity and inclusion (DEI). This person will also help support Pinterest’s media relations by managing and cultivating key relationships with broadcast, print and online media, as well as help develop new relationships with non-traditional media, such as podcasters and influencers. This person will also help identify the most important tech and business conferences and speaking opportunities for Pinterest’s executive team and build and manage these relationships with conference organizers. Finally, this person will help manage crisis communications and manage media relations and strategy in crisis situations. This person must also be a competent project manager and will need to be able to oversee cross-functional projects.

 

What you’ll do:

  • Help support and lead storytelling with the media on Pinterest’s business, workplace culture and recruiting, and diversity and inclusion initiatives.
  • Collaborate with colleagues on developing the storylines; pitch stories to top-tier media outlets, podcasts and social influencers. 
  • Manage and build relationships with traditional and nontraditional media channels across a variety of topics of importance to Pinterest.
  • Work cross functionally with the Corporate Communications Team as well as with the People Team, specifically the Recruiting and Inclusion and Diversity Teams to efficiently manage the company’s brand and reputation at external events in and related with Washington.
  • Work with the Executive Communications Team to help identify and build relationships with top industry and business conferences and speaking opportunities, and help partner with internal teams, including Executive Comms, to drive execution. 
  • Manage crises with media relations, drafting talking points, creating crisis communications plans, and acting as on-the-record spokesperson. 

 

What we’re looking for:

  • Solid understanding of what makes a good story and how to effectively identify, pitch and shape corporate and business stories for Pinterest in a compelling way.
  • Strong relationships with reporters, conference leaders, podcasters and creator/influencers interested in tech, business and leadership.  
  • A keen understanding of media strategy and experience pitching business stories to reporters.
  • Familiarity with the latest trends and issues in workplace culture, benefits and diversity, equity and inclusion.
  • Ability to work well cross functionally and coordinate across communications, legal, the people and inclusion and diversity teams, investor relations.
  • Project manage experience and skills and the ability to lead projects with multiple stakeholders and short deadlines.
  • Strong ability to multitask and manage multiple projects and deadlines simultaneously.
  • 10+ years experience in communications, public relations, journalism or business. Experience working in tech is preferred.
