Sr. CAD Design Engineer (CATIA V5)

  • Take product ownership and engineering responsibility, lead design activities in assigned function areas.
  • Integrate deliveries from other cross functional stakeholders and secure quality and timely delivery of design releases.
  • Perform design activities from concept to production phase, support verification & validation activities, and any corrective actions during design maturity stages.
  • Work in cross functional teams to prepare, present design review for manufacturing (DFM), aftermarket (DFAM) and failure mode and effects analysis (FMEA), quality tools related to function responsibility area.
  • Work with analyst (FEA, CFD), designers. 
  • Determine the most optimum approach for actual or potential problems and implement cost effective solutions.
  • Coordinate with suppliers/vendors during sourcing, tooling development, quality issues, reviewing & approving supplier requests for engineering change.
  • Provide engineering support for prototype/methods/pilot builds at production plant, corrective action for vehicle audit issues. 
  • Resolve factory, assembly, lab, project, product issues as tracked in Jira Product issue log (PIL) system within area of responsibility.
  • Initiate & follow up on engineering work requests for testing (TWR), analysis work request (AWR), engineering shop work request, rapid prototype, to provide guidance and direction on related projects.
  • Work with test engineers to support the testing activities, specify test procedure, type of testing required, support prototype procurement. 
  • Assure compliance with applicable vehicle regulations (FMVSS, FMCSR, EPA, CARB etc) related to area of responsibility.
  • Manage, update, issue engineering design changes in product data management system for timely deliveries
  • Heavy emphasis is placed on level of expertise, knowledge, analysis, accuracy, interaction within department and external organizations.
  • 8+ years of experience in related field.
  • Bachelor’s degree in mechanical / automotive engineering.

  • Able to support New Product Development / Current Product maintenance activities.

  • Lead CAD Design activities for Heavy Commercial Vehicle (Medium Duty) in CAB / Chassis Area.

  • Proficient in CATIA V5 CAD Tool. CREO experience would also be a plus.
  • Past experience working with Volvo Group will be a Plus (familiarity of PDMLink, KOLA, DCN Release process as per Volvo guidelines)
  • Proficient in Designing Plastics and sheet metal automotive components with complete autonomy.
  • Proficient in CATIA V5 Surfacing, Solid, Assy & Drafting module
  • Experience with Release CAD data in OEM PDM/PLM systems as per their standards.
