About the Role:

The Senior Business Intelligence (BI) Developer will report to the Senior Director of Enterprise Platforms and is responsible for designing and delivering advanced reports and dashboards that support business operations and strategic decision-making. This role involves collaboration with cross-functional teams to gather requirements, assess data availability, and create highly visual, accurate, and actionable insights. The Senior BI Developer will also mentor junior report writers and assist in data governance activities to ensure report quality and consistency across the organization.

This role offers growth opportunities, providing the chance to advance into leadership roles within the data analytics and business intelligence space. Individuals in this position will have the opportunity to influence reporting strategies, lead cross-functional initiatives, and further develop their technical skills with cutting-edge tools and technologies.

 

What You'll Do:

  • Design, develop, and maintain Power BI dashboards, reports, and visualizations to meet business reporting needs.
  • Collaborate with business analysts and stakeholders to gather requirements and translate them into efficient, scalable Power BI solutions.
  • Develop data models, calculate measures using DAX, and implement ETL (Extract, Transform, Load) processes as needed.
  • Optimize reports for performance, including data refresh scheduling, query optimization, and other best practices.
  • Ensure the accuracy and integrity of data, validating results by cross-referencing with data sources.
  • Create and maintain documentation of reports, processes, and data models to ensure consistency and ease of maintenance.
  • Provide support and troubleshooting for Power BI reports and dashboards in production environments.
  • Stay current on Power BI updates, features, and best practices, suggesting improvements to the existing reporting landscape.
  • Train and support end-users in using Power BI reports and dashboards.
  • Financial background preferred
  • Provide guidance and mentorship to junior report writers, including conducting peer reviews, sharing best practices, and facilitating training.
  • Proactively seek ways to improve reporting processes, automation, and scalability, incorporating user feedback and new technologies.

 

Qualifications & Interests:

  • Minimum 5+ years of experience in report writing and data visualization, with at least 3 years using Power BI is required.
  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Information Systems, Data Analytics, or a related field. Equivalent work experience will be considered.
  • Proficiency in Power BI, including DAX (Data Analysis Expressions) and Power Query.
  • Strong experience in creating interactive reports and dashboards with a focus on usability.
  • Familiarity with SQL and database management systems (e.g., SQL Server, Oracle, MySQL).
  • Experience working with ETL tools and processes.
  • Knowledge of data warehousing concepts and data modeling.
  • Familiarity with cloud-based reporting environments like Azure is a plus.
  • Strong analytical thinking and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills with the ability to explain technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and manage multiple projects simultaneously.

 

Actual salary will be based on a variety of factors, including location, experience, skill set, performance, licensure and certification, and business needs. The range for this position in other geographic locations may differ. Certain positions may also be eligible for variable incentive compensation, such as bonuses or commissions, that is not included in the base salary.
Estimated Pay Range
$110,000$140,000 USD
