Purpose / Overview
We are looking for a Sr Business Development Manager, C&I to lead and drive our C&I business development in Nigeria. You will oversee lead generation, business development, client management, and customer asset management.
Activities:
Take ownership of Nigeria’s C&I sales targets and lead the team in developing competitive and professional proposals that outline all technical and commercial aspects of the proposed solution (and signing off on them). With success, potential transition to leading PowerGen’s business development activities across the continent
- Originate and identify renewable energy projects suitable for development
- Lead assessment of project feasibility, risks, and financial viability, in coordination with internal teams at PowerGen and external stakeholders
- Detailed analysis of new business opportunities, incl. developing financial models, building a deep understanding of project returns and leverage, legal structuring, and continuous interactions with internal teams to optimize for project returns.
- Oversee project development activities, including permitting, land acquisition, and interconnection. Follow the Development Roadmap, incl. the required approval gates, documentation, and hand-overs2Understand the technical needs of customers and personally oversee or give sales pitches to key customers
- Develop strong relationships with new potential clients and our existing customer base for follow-on projects
- Build and maintain relationships with government agencies, regulatory bodies, and local communities
- Lead the identification and analysis of new market opportunities (niche segments) to develop additional C&I ‘products’
- Observe trends in the C&I solar space in Nigeria to continuously improve PowerGen’s offer commercially and technologically
- Maintain project pipeline tracking and database, and provide regular updates to management on key KPIs and business development progress
- Oversee work streams of direct reports
- Frequent travel as required
- Technical Sales background and experience; at least 5-10 years in the energy sector, preferably with experience in the renewable energy and C&I solar
- Industrial B2B Solutions Sales & management experience of 5+ years, preferably in technical or electrical solutions
- Knowledge of commercial structuring; Familiarity with project financing, budgeting, and return on investment (ROI) for large projects, along with experience in financial modeling for renewable energy is an advantage
- Strong ability to build relationships and networks and drive revenue through large C&I solar projects
- Lead generation and pipeline development in the C&I space
- Sales management (ie. process, tools, and templates for the sales teams)
- Contract management
- Engineering design and technical skills
