Sr. Backend Engineer (Node/AWS)

MINT MOBILE is seeking a talented Sr. Software Engineer to join the Engineering Team! Individual reports to Lead Software Engineer. Role is remote; must reside in the United States

ABOUT THE ROLE

  • Design, implement, test and maintain scalable backend services.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams via an Agile development workflow and bring new features from design to production.
  • Architect technical solutions, analyze technical scope given requirements, and deliver technical design documents.
  • Manage production platforms and debug issues.
  • Collaborate on code reviews to maintain code quality and best practices.
  • Mentor junior developers.
  • Make recommendations for improvements on current systems, processes, and services as needed.

WHAT YOU BRING

  • 4+ years of experience to build on
  • Extensive experience with developing backend applications using TypeScript/Node.js
  • Extensive experience with AWS - Lambda, DynamoDB, SQS, etc.
  • Strong experience with microservices, event-driven architecture, and asynchronous communication patterns.
  • Strong experience with SQL/noSQL databases.
  • Strong experience with API design - REST, HTTP status codes, OpenAPI specification, etc.
  • Strong experience with designing systems with high reliability.
  • Strong experience with managing and debugging production systems - telemetry, logging, metrics, and monitoring.
  • Experience with unit testing.
  • Experience with software development principles such as SOLID and design patterns.
  • Experience working with CI/CD pipelines.
  • Ability to write clean and understandable code.
  • Ability to learn new technical programs and capabilities.
  • Ability to architect a solution with little oversight.
  • Ability to manage projects and assignments with little guidance.
  • Ability to communicate effectively under pressure in a fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to work outside of normal business hours to handle critical issues that may arise

In support of the Equal Pay for Equal Work Act, the range of starting pay for this role is $130,000 - $160,000.  This is not a guarantee of compensation or salary, actual compensation is influenced by a wide range of factors including but not limited to skill set, level of experience, education, certifications, responsibility, and geographic location.  We also offer a variety of benefits including health, disability insurance, 401 (k), flexible spending accounts, EAP, education reimbursement, parental leave, unlimited vacation, bonuses, and company paid holidays.  The specific programs available will vary depending on state, start date, and employment type.
